Wasn't sure where to post this in Sci/Tech ( security, web hosting, web master ). It will get alot of hits here but move to where you see fit.

hi, long time listener first time caller

ok, for ages I have had 2 emails in my inbox that would not delete. Both dated from 1970s. Didn't bother me too much cos they were taking up no space. Now I am after getting the biggest email ever and it won't kindly **** off. No new mail can come in because of this.

I emailed eircom about this before and nothing was done about it. Don't really want to get a new email address because this one has my_name@eircom.net

On anther note, might aswell keep on bitching about eircom, why the hell can you not change your email password

any idea what up or is some guy from the past sending me emails some how.
the email with the title "yummy yummy" was porn i was sent, but it never arrived correctly. Things went down hill from there :(

    Rabies

Feck! That's mad sh*t! Eircom are useless like that anyway. I had problems with them before.

instaed of e-mailing them, why not send in a letter. make the complaint/problem official. its too easy to just ignore/delete and e-mail.

if you are still getting nowhere, send in a solicitors letter. they wont ignore that.

    email gets a delete
a letter gets eyeballed quickly then binned
a solicitor (letter) gets you a polite letter back, reminding that it's their service and a privilege...

    which would sir like?

Sir would like a cup of tea with two sugars please.

Looks like will just end up talking to some tech monkey on the phone and try to get it fixed.

    Download "Magic Mail Monitor"

If you use it to access the mail server you should be able to clear the mails yourself.

It is a small and easy to use utility. The only info you need is your user name and password. The mail server is 'mail2.eircom.net'

    Good luck

em hang on. have u actually rang their tech support line and given their "tech monkeys" a chance to help u, or are u just bitching here and sending solicitors letters instead.

ive seen that exact same thing before in tech support and the solution is to telnet in and delete it that way.

gobby. out of interest, y would u send a solicitors letter instead of ringing tech support?

I taught the mail server was mail1.eircom.net
    link from eircom

whosurpaddy, won't send a solicitors letter. too much hassle. will ring them later.

Cal67, will try that prog and see if it works.

    edit:
prog allows me to get in to my inbox and check allmy mail but the offending email doesn't show up

the point i was making was unrelated to hassle, but that people have a very litigious attitude to certain companies e.g. eircom. the original poster just said he had a technical support issue and the first reaction is solicitors letters, maybe ringing their tech support number might be a better idea. do u send tesco a solicitors letter when they dont stock ur favourite beans?

Ok there's two problems with this situation

    1. Your using EirCON, stop using them and that will be your main problem fixed

    2. when saving screenshots try to use .jpg its ALOT more efficent then using bitmaps

    1. don't want to, have an email address i like. using my vodafone one now, is that ok or have you a problem with them also

    2. the images are only 60-80k. that isn't too big even for 56k modem. was using the great ms paint and it wouldn't allow me to save it as a jpeg so i saved it as 256 colour to reduce size.

thanks for the help whosurpaddy. telnet didn't work. the problem email doesn't even show up in telnet. :(

http://support.eircom.net/ -- net free is mail2,either should work...
in his defense, there's a problem saving as nything but .bmp in the lab he was in..
back up emails that you want - techdork will probably just flush your account...
