I'm not trying to get into a discussion about the pros or cons of the war, or anything like that, and if you feel I'm out of line feel free to delete this reply.
What I'm trying to just convey is that the US is a huge country and to say "the yanks do this" or "that's just Americans being American's" is kind of unfair. No huge population all thinks the same way about everything anymore than any one family all agree about what to have for dinner. The stereotype of the red neck Yank driving around in his pick up truck with his rifle resting on the back seat right next to his rebel flag, while eating his "freedom fries" is just as unrealistic a thought as the whole country blindly following the president like a bunch of lemmings.
