It's usually for the cops to decide, not the insurance companies.

What sort of scenario are we talking about?

A good friend of mine works for an agency who investigate car accidents on behalf of insurance companies. He analyses the data gathered by the police and would submit his findings and opinion of what happened.

Take the number of vehicles in the field (A), multiply it by the probable rate of failure (B), then multiply the result by the average out-of-court settlement (C). A times B times C equals X...

They say they can analyse the traffic cameras but never bother, generally the insurance companies piss you about and take their time replying to you, put you on hold, cut you off, give you contradictory information. They even rang my GF back once to ask her her phone number. They'll also say an assessor is coming @ X time in Y place, 3 days later no sign then you ring the cúnt only to hear that, "oh yeah I was there alright"

Basically they'll do everything within their power so that they don't have to pay you.
And if you ever get money out the BASTARDS they'll more than likely send it as a cheque so that no bank in the country can cash it for a further 3,000 years.

    - does that answer your question?
