    Thanks Bazh,

total noob here. Which ones would you recommend??

128 or 256 and whats the best linker cable usb or parallel??

Do I load the roms straight onto the card or install the emu onto the card first??

    any help is appreciated.

    thanx

well very dicey conversation this is indeed ;)

    But heres the deal

the flash rom cart is the same as a GBA game, u aquire a backup of a gba rom(on ur pc) using the linker cable send the rom to the flash rom cart.

Im sure a quick google will yield results.

You`ll want a 256mb cart, with a USB cable(faster). Do some research first before you buy anything.

I`ll have a look around and maybe pm you my gba links i have somewhere

128Mb (128 megabits -- roughly 16 megs) is currently the biggest size ROM. So if you want to play one ROM at a time, that should be fine.

A 256Mb cart will hold 2 128Mb ROMs (no, really!), but bear in mind that it will also hold 4 64Mb ROMs (8 megs each), or even 8 32Mb ROMs (4 megs each).

To give you a rough idea of sizes, Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem etc. are 128Mb. The majority of games seem to be 64Mb. A bunch of games (including SNES remakes/remixes) are 32Mb. There are very very few games smaller than that.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave.

(Note, you must own the originals to legally use backups, blah blah blah...) :)

i thought, a gba game was 8mb so you could fit 128/8 in it ?
    dang !

The flash rom cards are 128/256+ MegaBit, as opposed to the roms which can be 2/4/8 MegaByte i think

    whats he saying then
    even 8 32Mb ROMs (4 megs each).
if they are 4 megs (mb?) then do they expand when sent to flash card or what ?

Well its to do with the way that we`re dealing with MegaBits(rom card) and MegaBytes(rom files as shown in windows)

I prolly didnt explain it right either

    32MegaBit = 4MegaByte

For all your gear the place to go is here

    Success-HK

I recommend the Flash2Advance Ultra 512M Cartridge with USB linker set, it works out to €135 and the shipping is around a tenner, probably the best value. But i suppose the 64M (€45) version is fine if you don't want to load up multiple roms.

ROMS: well theres a good few places but one of the best would be,

    http://www.google.com

....just my 2c on the subject

Seem to have missed this thread for some reason. Anywho lads please dont go linking to sites that contain roms. Also BazH I know your site wasnt directly hosting roms and it was providing good information on the flash link but alas thats the way the cookie crumbles! I will be reviewing the charter soon to see wether to allow the linking to sites that dont host roms and only have links ot places that do.
