i thought it was quite enjoyable (full game not demo) apart from the fact there seems to have been a bug in the game which meant the Jet disappeared and i couldnt progress. what a pain tbh :(

I think your being slightly harsh personally.

tbh the demo is not a patch on the original... looks to me like an XBOX port :(

they really simplified the game... suxor

They haven't simplified it, you have to play a bit longer than the demo. Theres always loads to do, and it's hard not to piss anyone off, thus getting your ass kicked.

You need a beast of a PC to get it at 1024 or higher.

Im currently runniing it at 40-50fps at 640x480 on a

    AMD 2500+
    512 PC2700 RAM
Radeon 9600 pro overclocked to 350/500

I thought it was a gorgeous looking game, i dont get why people are ragging on its looks, i thought that was one area where it couldnt be faulted.
It ran smooth as you like for me on 1024x768 wth:

    AMD 2000+
    512 ram
    Radeon 9800 pro

They have simplified it compared to the original. Id recommend it, dont get me wrong, but its very, very straightforward. Nothing you do really makes any difference (except the last 30min of gaming). I completed it in 9hrs 34min on hard, without using the "cheaty" sniper\cloaking mod at all. I had about 6 spare biomods and 4 black market models (or more). I had max installed BioMods in all categories around 4hrs into the game.

I have a monster PC and I couldnt run it higher than 800x600 (and even at that I personally found it too slow). Many people look at it and think it looks bad mainly because its not "sharp". Thats on purpose, they call it a "bloom" effect (aka porno lens). I loved it, gave the game a very cinematic look. If you dont like it, turn it off in the options (and get a fps boost) and it looks like any other Unreal2 engined game.

The constant loading of areas every 5min (or less) really annoyed me. Its a leftover from the Xbox original (designed for 64MB ram). From what Ive seen, the XB version looks the same but runs considerably faster, a clear sign that they designed it as a console game and ported it back to PC. Wasnt too fond of the "universal ammo" design either.

    runs sweet here
    1.8ghz amd 512mb pc2700 ram and a 9700pro

Get some slow down but everything is maxed out (bar shadows) and 1024 res.

Universal ammo sucked imo and the loading is a pain. Couple other things i didnt like as well but tbh i enjoyed it (till i had to restart cos of a bug and i cant be arsed finsih it now :p )

are you's talking about the original game, out a few years ago? (which was amazing)

...or the sequel? I didn't know that was out yet.

played 20 mins of the demo.

    it sucked.

will give it one more try, but just one.

I finished the game (3 different endings). Its a good game - very good looking - could do with a bit of code refinement to get it super smooth - if you've got a good machine and enjoy fps - then this is a good one for you.

So has this game dropped most of the rpg elements of the first one?
Is it more of a fps than the first?

    Cheers.

It's definatly RPG. I'm pretty sure you don't have to kill anyone, but people will get hostile towards you if you take certain routes, so it's pretty hard, but there are objects you can use which help with stealth.

I thought it was utter pants.

    Universal Ammo.
    Universal Mods.
Everything seems slow paced & sluggish (not the engine, the gameplay itself)
    The AI is average.

They basically took Deus Ex 1, took everything out of the game that made it good.
Repackaged it with a nice shiny Unreal 2 engine and said
"Hmmm, wonder if anyone will notice?"

The removal of the skill system, the universal ammo, the universal mods etc. etc. all indicate that it was indeed a console port. It makes me sick :(

However, I love the intro cut-scene and I may find some day that I return to the game, just to finish it - to see the videos and follow the story line.

That said, I'd insist that anyone who buys it raise their hand so I can shoot them,
    repeatedly.

    I completely agree Ivan...

nothing but a very simple X-Box port, even with its shiny graphics and intro it cannot compare to the original

    Disapointment of the year imho

i was really dissapointed with this game at first. it seemed that it had been dumbed down for consoles. and i was right. it gets better as the game goes on, but is nothing compared to the first game. Graphics are good, but i couldn't run it on anything over 640x480. and i have a p4 3gig, 512 ram and a 9800 pro radeon. it apparently works way better on an Nvidia machine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

i know it returns to 640*480 each time you load it up but as i said befrore, i ran it fine on an ati 9700pro
