Can someone tell me if there is a difference between using the CDWow .ie site or the .hk site. I am looking at one DVD in particular, and it works out at EUR25 on the Irish site and under EUR 20 on the Hong Kong site. Which do people normally use? Is there a difference? etc....

Yeah, and they all ship fron Hong Kong anyways, but no matter where you order from now they add 3 or 4 euro to the price once you put in an Irish shipping address (At least I think thats right)

That only applies to CD's though. They don't levy an extra charge for DVDs or games. I ordered old school from them the other night. It was about 13 euros from the HK site, 19.99 from the IE one. No prizes for guessing which one I ordered from.

I've heard the "american" site for cdwow is supposed to be good, but I can't find the link for it....

    http://www.cd-wow.net

    Both German and US combined.
.hk is usually the cheapest of them all.

Basically all of this leads to one thing:

    I HATE IRMA

Anyone else notice that the bank hits you with a Finance charge when using the HK website, or am I the only one this has happened to. I presume it is for changing to Hk dollars. Pretty much wiped out any savings I would have made. Has this happened to anyone else? I am slightly annoyed.....

Which bank are you with ?

Which type of credit card did you use. Never happened to me.

AIB and a normal AIB visa card. total purchase, EUR 40, next line down is finance charge almost EUR 25. Something don't look right here.....

I used to have an AIB Visa (changed to MBNA) & used to buy from the HK site every week. Never once charged extra for it

If it says Purchase Finance or similar, thats your credit card interest, nothing to do with your CD-WOW purchase

I think the €25 charge might be the Government stamp duty on the card. Just coincidence that they are one after the other on your statement. Although now I think about it I think that charge is €40.

Better check with your bank. Certainly never happened to me after using cdwow...

The CD Wow price HIke is as a result of them combining the domains .ie and .hk to form .HIKE

    ......sorry ;)

So what exactly do CDwow.hk charge ontop of what they advertise.

Is this surcharge for all DVD's, CD's and stuff or is it just for CD's

    Try and keep up mate:D

The surcharge was just for cd's but now they have sent out e-mails to some people saying that the charge is gone for chart cd's, meanwhile the price has gone up.

The surcharge has been dumped. While it existed it just applied to CDs

The only way of knowing for sure is to go through the purchase process and see what price you end up with on the last step before putting the order through.

Ok, got to apologise guys, i got it wrong. In my haste I did not fully check out what I was being charged for. It was probably just something else I bought, as the same text appears elsewhere on the statement (on 24 hour banking, it just gives a brief message), so apoligies if I caused any confusion. I feel a little silly. I was just happy at having saved a fair bit of money, then v. angry at seeing AIB(again!!) wipe it out, I'm sure you people understand. (Banks are evil)
