I recently spotted a poster up in Dublin city centre that said:

DO YOU SUFFER FROM SAME-SEX ATTACHMENT DISORDER?
    WE CAN HELP!

There was a website address as well, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. I was just wondering if anyone else has spotted these posters and what their thoughts are on them (it's taken me a while to get past the
    "strangled anger" stage...)

I posted about this awhile back. Have a little search for it. I included a poster too (not the Irish one though). I'm too lazy to provide a link.

Seriously, tho, these people are sick. Flippin neo-nazis!

Saying that, I couldn't help but read their propaganda, and slogans. Had me laughing for quite a while:D
And then I read further, and I felt the need to arm myself with an AK47 and kill a few of them. Seriously sick individuals:mad:

That's a really worrying trend. But, then again there all sorts of organisations out there who'll try to "save your soul" from perfectly normal everyday things.

However, I think these kinds of organisations could really do a lot of psychological damage to someone who was gay and not exactly self-confident or who had little or no support to deal with being gay.

I'd be particularly concerned if they're targeting teenagers with this sort of stuff.

That's just a general link - care to expand on what course you're doing and how you feel it raises important points?

Hmmm, I did have a poke around the site by the way and found such gems as
Question 2. What should the Christian's motive be for finding freedom from bondage to impurity?

    a) To have others admire us
    b) To look good in a swimsuit
    c) To feel better when thin
    d) To have a better self image
    e) The Glory of God

Is it just me, or are the concepts of an online course in such matters kind of mind boggling?

Haven't done any research but I would be willing to bet these kind of "campaigns" are backed by conservative fundamentalist 'Christians', probably US based.

I put the 'Christians' in inverted commas because I firmly believe that people who persecute gays are a disgrace to Christianity.

They certainly dont live up to the whole ethos of being or acting christian ...I'm an Pagan myself and glad to be, I think it's way more in tune with who we are on a spiritual level, and I dont go around *spreading the word*, because I believe that People have a right to believe in what they want to, but when they try to tell me I have a sickness or abnormality because I'm gay it really annoys me. I believe that we are responsible for our deeds and actions on an individual basis and therefore are not answerable to anyone but ourselves, not that being gay merits any kind of apology, I'm very happy with who and what I am..... I say let them go on their silly crusades, history is littered with people like that, and homosexuality has been around just as long and is STILL going strong !!
    AMEN !!!!!!

Most christians aren't like that, a lot of my gay friends are christian. And anyway, when Jesus came down he bought the whole EVERYONE is equal thing with him, so christians should be cool with the whole homosexuality thing.

Ah, your average 'Christian' fundamentalist loony picks and chooses what parts of Christianity to use. They use Leviticus's prohibition of homosexuality, while carefully ignoring his prohibition of mixing textiles in clothes. And judge not lest you be judged? Obviously mad; set fire to him immediately.

And if they Adhere to not wearing mixed cloths, are they in anyway less insane? All Christians pick and choose what parts of the bible to obey, ffs it contradicts itself all over the place. Does that make them "Christian' fundamentalist loony's"? I'm at a loss to understand what your saying here. You're no have a dig at Christianity you seem to be having a dig at Christians. Do you find people that have faith in organised religion intrinsically evil.

No, I find those who try to impose it on others unpleasant, particularly when the religion they're imposing ITSELF CONDEMNS SUCH BEHAVIOUR. And yep, I would think anyone who believes that the bible is literally right about everything is a bit silly.

To use the specific example of this "Ex-Gay" movement. They aren't imposing it on anyone. People who no longer wish to be gay, go to them. Also there's a difference between imposing you're believe system on others, and informing people of you're believe system. These people believe that being gay is something which can be cured, you do not.Fair enough.
particularly when the religion they're imposing ITSELF CONDEMNS SUCH BEHAVIOUR

That's your interpretation. Catholicism condemns homosexuality as evil but also condemns attacks on homosexuals, saying people should live in peace together. They would see this as part of there "hate the sin love the sinner" ethos, and in keeping with Christian teachings.
And yep, I would think anyone who believes that the bible is literally right about everything is a bit silly.

It's called faith. Some might call you silly for having faith in some physic book, and could provide numerous examples of contradictions and falsehoods through out history. What you believe today may be proven wrong tomorrow, yet you have faith in it. Why is that?
