Is it worth packing up my Sky digibox?

I am shortly relocating from England back to North West of Ireland. I currently have Sky Digital installed here. Is it worth bringing the dish and decoder with me? - will it be of any use and would it save me any money anyway?

Also - is there anybody living in the NW that could advise on what the options are there for extra channels - sky vs cable vs mmds

    Thx.

Keep the box and card at all costs!!! You cannot recieve ITV, CH4 or CH5 on an Irish Sky subscription so if you want to watch these (on satellite) you need a UK card

If you cancel your current UK subscription, your card automatically becomes a Free To View card and will allow you to continue viewing these channels and all the BBC channels here in Ireland.

Bring the box and card over, then if you wish to take out an Irish Sky subscription you will get a new box free once you pay for inst. and keep it connected to a phone line, then you can also use your UK box on the same dish. You will then have the best of both so to speak.

Best not to say anything to Sky regarding the box being used in Ireland, just cancel, pack it up and bring it over. Similarly once here just apply for a new subscription without mentioning your current UK box. Also never connect the UK box to a phone line in Ireland

All you will need is a twin LNB on your dish, which the installer would be able to supply you with

Alternatively, change your subscription / direct debit payment to an Irish Credit card. Take the box with you and arrange connection to a dish in Ireland (good chance if you are buying / renting a house in Ireland a dish will already be there, if not you can buy / install one for a modest sum). Buy an Irish Aerial for the terrestrials. Now you have the fullest selction of channels, all the UK channels (and their digital siblings), plus RTE / TV3 terrestrially.
