Butchering a PRS

Hello all just want to see what people think of this. I recently aquired a PRS McCarty. I love the guitar to bits. But I was playing an epiphone before but I had a nice little JB-4 in the bridge guitar was ok the pick up was sweet. When I sold it I was playing Dr. J nice eggle for a while and it too has that pick up.

Now to my problem I love the PRS pure class. There is nothing wrong with the Pick up but it dosen't have the same bite as the JB 4. People say well if ya buy a guitar at that price it should do everything you want you shouldn't have to change nething. But I really miss the attack and bite off the JB 4 the McCarty Bridge pick up is lovely indeed but a little rounded for my liking. Its covered too so that dosen't help to create bite.

Would this be butchering a great guitar. Or simply customising an already amazing guitar to better suit my needs!!

    1) Acquire router
    2) Attack PRS with said router
    3) Glue in 2 EMG 85's powered at 18V

Actually, ignore all that. DO NOT TOUCH THAT GUITAR!!!! As much as I dislike PRS's, you could sell the fecker and buy a different (and possibly better) guitar to stick pickups in. PRS's really shouldn't be messed with merely cos of the resale value plumets when things are done to them.

If you want more bite and/or attack, buy an eq of some kind and add some high mid (between 2500-6000 hz is probably what you want). If that's still not enough attack, buy a compressor or expander. You need to set up your dynamics so that a mild compression occurs after 50-250ms. You'll probably need a short release time too. Buy these things and experiment - you'll find what you want, and without having to perform a terrible act of abomination on your guitar. :)
