How long will it be before plastic surgery goes weird?

OK, I know lots of freaks out there are obsessed with their bodies blah blah etc etc.

But everything they do so far is *reasonably* normal.

How long do you reckon it'll be before things start to get weird, and what procedures do you think these will be?

I reckon extra breasts will be first (for some non-offensive examples see here and here. Don't look if you're in work though.)

I also reckon it'll become sexy to get your belly button sewn over so you just have a long flat stomach.

    What ya reckon?

    You call that weird?

I'm waiting for the day we can augment our physical bodies with synthetic parts - upgrade your memory? Install new eyes that can see in the dark? Get rid of that crappy biological liver and get a 100-year-guaranteed blood filtration system installed instead?

IMO it's only a few steps up from having laser eye surgery, having a pacemaker installed, etc.

I think ppl will want to have wings (that don't actually function, though) and become fairies, elves and goblins. Really pathetic but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Welcome to the bizaare world of catman,

    BEFORE
    Catman2.jpg

    AFTER
    Catman1.jpg

Dennis Abner of San Diego, CA , is a mild mannered, college educated former Marine and current computer programmer.
His upper lip has been reshaped and implants inserted, his teeth filed and capped to make permanent points. He wears green contact lenses with slit irises. His ears are clipped and at the top to form points. He's had a dozen six-inch long fiberglass whiskers permanently implanted in his face, and his whole body tattooed in stripes. He's legally changed his name to "Catman". As a crowning touch his hair is Tiger Orange, but that's only until he can find some way to add the finishing touch to his transformation and have actual tiger pelts grafted onto "every inch of" his body at a cost of $100,000.

i think the kind of thing ur going towards is like in one of Ian M. Banks sci-fi books, he has people going to parties where they have a surgeon type guy there who cuts people open, gives them big artistic wounds for the night, then they're all fixed b4 they go home. ... flesh parties or something...

Do you think the claws would be advantageous to computer programming?

There's another young man in the US who is going about turning himself into a lizard. He has had already had implants (mainly in his face) to change his appearance. He has had that cut-your-tongue-in-two thing done, has filed all his teeth to sharp points, and is slowly going about tatooing himself fom head to toe with scales.

Intelligent guy when he was interviewed. Reminded me of amp for some reason.

(Oh yeah, he's also a firebreather and all sorts of other crazy stuff - http://bmeworld.com/amago/ )

And that wasn't the worst thing in that Banks book - the chair kinda freaked me.
