    Forwarding from irishastronomy.org (very belatedly):
    --

    Greetings from the Sunny South-East!!!!!

Just to let you know that the Slaneyside Astronomers, the new Wexford Astronomy Club, has been established and is currently recruiting new members.

We have held two public meetings to date and have a contact list of over fifty interested people. At present, the club is being run by an acting committee of five members. We will be shortly launching our programme of events for 2004, and we plan to hold our first AGM at our February 2004 meeting.

We are starting small in the hope that we can lay the foundations for a permanent and active club in Wexford.

The club will be operating on three levels:

    1. Four public lectures each year
    2. A monthly observing session
    3. An informal monthly gathering of ‘anoraks’ to chat about the latest news, events, equipment etc.

Two of our members are currently constructing a web-site. In the meantime, we can be contacted at wexford_astronomy@yahoo.ie

Alternatively, you can contact our acting Chairperson, Dermot Rafter [pm me for his phone number]

Not sure if they are still around, but their e-mail address was wexford_astronomy@yahoo.ie. Worth a shot.

Hi duiske, yeah I came across that email address alright and sent an email their way but it came back undelivered - permanent fail. No such address. I'll try it again just in case I entered something wrong but I copied and pasted the address so should be perfect.

    Hi,

I actually attended a meeting of this group years ago.

I don't know if they ever had another meeting.
Have a feeling it didn't get off the ground.

I'm trying to start a group so if anyone is interested let me know.

I know very little, but i'm willing to try.

    Mark.

I would like to set up a new group in Wexford myself.
Seems the only other group is astronomy Ireland.
I think i'd like to keep it less formal / financial.
    Ergo, my group is FREE.

I have a site in the center of the county with parking for loads and a nice big yard and adjacent field for viewing.

As yet no name for this group.

If anyone is interested contact me MOD EDIT by PM

    Mark.

Hoping to advertise in next weeks papers and raise a few more supporters.

I have a venue here mid county if needed.
I have a separate building and parking for many, and it's very dark.
I've also a computerised scope available.

I suppose we'll have to try and find a public venue for non-observing
gatherings. Somewhere mid county would be equally accessible.
    Will look into it.

Would also be very interested in this. I have an 8" manual Dobsonian that gives good views. Time may be a bit limited for me at the moment but would be interested.

I've just knocked up a little website.

    www.wexfordastronomyclub.eu

I'll put a forum on there later today.

I'll book an ad in the echo tomorrow for Wednesday.
Hopefully we'll get a few new people.
I'll arrange a date next week.

Also interested but time definitely won't permit at present. Don't even have time get my own scope out in the back garden. But will lurk on the new site if that's ok.
