    I have just installed a redhat 9.0 box and adduser did not install!!
    it just runs useradd!! which is a pain.
    does anyone have any idea how i can fix this? i searched the machine and it installed the man page too but not adduser.
    any help would be good

    Isn't useradd == adduser?

    it is linked at the minute but when i type adduser it should run a script that allows me to add users easily. not just send me to useradd. I have set up about 20 redhat boxes and this is the first time this ever happened. i cant find any adduser RPM's for redhat 9.0, is there another easy way to addusers without a GUI?

    verify you have shadow-utils installed right

    rpm -V shadow-utils-<version number>.rpm

    adduser was deprecated ages ago as I recall. What's wrong with useradd? It's a perfectly good command line tool.
