Anyone pissed off that when The Doors (21st Century) were gigging around Europe that they didn't play here?

No, because I went to see Ray Manzareck (sp?) in HQ a while back and it was a joke really. On the strength (!) of that gig I will avoid any other Doors related gigs, even though they are one of my favourite bands.

On a slightly different note, what do you think of the LA Doors? I like them, generally.

I'm afraid I would have to disagree with you.
I also saw Ray in the HQ (twice) and I got my moneys worth (what were you expecting??)

Ian Astbury (the singer) is great.
I got an (official) copy of the gig they played in LA on New Years eve and WOW.
You may not have liked Ray's spoken tour but if you love The Doors this was amazing.
Ray and Robbie were on fire and Ian is a fantastic compliment to the music (and does a stand up job covering for Jim.):D

Points noted! You've got me interested in the gig now, I must keep an eye out for a copy of it myself!

In fairness, if they did come to Ireland I would definitely have gone, so I take back the earlier comment. But I wouldn't go to see Robbie Krieger solo, for example.

The Ray spoken gig for me was just anti-climactic. He has done some incredible things with The Doors, both writing and playing live, and he didn't do himself justice at the HQ gig. I appreciate that he was trying to get recognised as a solo artist, but for me he will always be a Door. Besides, I had a free ticket, and you never appreciate gigs as much as when you forked out yourself ..... !

I remember the same disapointment when I went to see David Byrne solo. He just wasn't Talking Heads, and wasn't trying to be.

If you want a copy this is the only place to get it at the moment (before they hit ebay)

It is a bit expensive, but well worth it.

Forgot to say they only printed a thousand and when I got mine a couple of weeks ago it was up to 751

Another reunion, gah. this one is just a pure money-milking machine.

Oh, I forgot to say, they are playing The Point in July.

The la doors are entertaining but i think it really depends on the mood when your going to see them as to if you will enjoy the gig(and no i dont mean stoned you foul minded ppl ;) )

They would have been much better off playing a day earlier at the Oxegen festival, they'd be a great closer playing stuff like Roadhouse Blues with everyone steamboats. I d-loaded Riders in The Storm from their website and it sounds great, but I'm a long-time Astbury fan so I'm probably biased

They are playing here on monday 12th July at the point. I think the olympia would be a better venue to have the gig.

I thought the gig with Ray in HQ was well worth the money, stayed back to meet him at the end.
