Having looked through 22 posts of utility_'s random confrontations (and he did have a lot of them), I now see why he was banned. For those of you who don't conform to Moriarty's slave-driven standards of painstaking, "needle-in-haystack" research ( ), the post in question involved him telling somebody who had a deep personal issue with another person that it was basically all their own fault.

Quality banning there Beruthial!

Aside from that, he got into numerous arguments with people, and worse still, changed his avatar from "The Tick". I for one was appalled.

Maybe it was their fault, it is a public forum for advice, maybe getting up and doing something about it was good advice?

For the record, I dont like rude, obnoxious, nasty, cruel and particularly uncivil people. If you wish to stay here and "subject" yourself to my hideous tyranny then you are welcome if you wish to leave the door is always open but this is unashamedly our gig and we are the bouncers. Most people seem to like and indeed appreciate our doorpolicy.

But he doesnt really come across that way at all in most of his posts except when he's on the defensive of another milkshake etc. insult and I wont count those tongue in cheek skanger threads.

I suspect this attitude towards him is one from drunken (usually) irc encounters/kickings/bannings etc.
Although it was always maintained #boards.ie and www.boards.ie were seperate entitities.

Of course its your decision to make but I dont suspect your reasons for it are from his posts.

I don't know either. I won't defend him because I tried to defend him before and the whole situation ended with me getting so pissed at him that I banned him from the site.

As for the provocation, Skanger's abuse hasn't gone unnoticed (nor has the fact that you prompted Monty to give you a permanent ban on After Hours).

I'm not changing the subject. I wanted the baiting of utility_ to be clamped down on, but he was responsible for the content of his own posts. All I'm saying is that such crap does get noticed even if it isn't accepted as an excuse.
