Jordans 04 Lineup

    Jos Verstappen(NL)
    Nick Heidfeld(D)
    Ralph Firman(GB/IRL)

Three into two doesnt go. only 2 will get a race seat.

Jos Verstappen is experienced he also has the backing of a dutch company interested in investing in F1. This will surely help bring in some badly needed funding. He also has the biggest fanclub in F1 this will help boost merchandise sales for jordan.

Nick Heidfeld has 4 years experience. still has a lot of potential. proved himself to be just as quick as kimi raikonnen in the 01 season with sauber. He could perhaps bring deutsche post funding back to the team. Despite being germany`s 3rd driver he has a big fan club.

Ralph Firman is unproven and inexperienced however he would be instrumental in either keeping benson and hedges sponsership or increasing it. he did his best in an uncompetitve car last season.

Personally i think Heidfeld and Verstappen should get the job

i agree i like firman but still i think heidfeld and verstappen are the men for the job, heidfeld looked like he was gonna make it big a few years back especially with the back of mercedes iirc, however they went for raikkonen and it looks like there decision payed off. good luck to jordan anyway there gonna need it.

stupid question though is fisi going to sauber with its ferrari links?

Fisi going to Sauber was confirmed months ago.

Heidfeld and Joss the Boss (ahem) makes most racing sense but Jordan is'nt about racing anymore...its about money.

I'd like to see Heidfeld and Verstappen team up this year. But can't see the driver lineup making much difference to the overall Jordan performance- not sure if even Schuey could bring them back to their '99 level.

Just read on F1Racing.net that Eddie has agreed to sign Jos but as of yet no contracts are signed.

Pity about Jos- Eddie should get his act together and sign some drivers!!

    Firman must be delighted

I reckon that unless he is going for another rookie, EJ will keep Firman on. Furthermore, given that B&H are going to sponsor them during 2004 and they want a UK driver then Ralph is well in!

It now looks as if the second driver will be Giorgio Pantano, bringing $5 million with him and it appears the money B&H were promising in exchange for a British driver will still be forthcoming.

Looks like a pretty shrewd move to me, all things considered.

Pantano had one of the most successful records ever in kart racing with victories in the World Championship at Cadet and Junior level back in 1993 and 1994. In 1995 he was the European Formula A Champion in his first season in the category, a remarkable achievement. In 1996 he was signed by Mercedes-Benz but that relationship never flourished and eventually broke down and his career went through a difficult period. In 2000, however, he jumped straight into German Formula 3 and won the title at his first attempt, a remarkable achievement given that it was his first year in car racing and he had never raced on the German tracks before. That year he tested for Benetton and this was followed by tests with McLaren, Minardi and Williams. He was also in the frame for a Prost F1 drive but with no financial backing he struggled to stay in the limelight although he was a winner in Formula 3000 with Team Astromega in 2001, Coloni in 2002 and Durango in 2003.

This Pantano guy sounds talented but I still think Eddie signing a rookie isn't the way to go. He needs someone with a few years experience, McNish or even Firman would have been the more obvious choices- not taking the money aspect into account.

This poll was way off! :D Pantano has it now, http://www.f1racing.net
