I have in my hands the star newspaper from thursday jan 22nd 2004. In it is a picture of a guy in a suit and two scientist types standing over what the headline says is "Euro1.2m WORTH OF CANNABIS" It also says that this equals 90 kilos. To my count it looks like about 316 bars.

90 Kilos = 3174.3 Ounces = Roughly 353 bars (at standard 9 ounces per bar )

That is ( 3174 * 8 ) 25,392 eights and if our dealers were to sell each and every one at 25 euro ( damn good salesmen and damn stupid "customers" ) per eight you would come to a total of 634,800 euro.
Now considering that i dont know anyone who buys eights unless they are real desperate or broke and quarters usually cost 30 euro ( if you dont have any friends in the buisness ) then

where the hell did 1.2 million euro come from?

the cops use ridiculous figures like that to ensure the highest possible puishment for trafficing. you could pay €10,000 for an amount of hash that could get you a conviction for it with a street value of €100,000+

i recall a great pic in the evening herald with 2 cops both with a puzzled look on their face and one with a quarter between his first finger and thumb sayin 'what what would ye say the street value of this is here tom?' and the other one responding with 'looks like about 2 million street value to me thómas'

The cops are thick when it comes to drug related issues imo... i recall a scene in 'fear and loathing in las vegas' with the topic of roach!

she told me that in holland, a new law states that if they catch you at the airport smuggling in less than 2kg of heroin they confiscate it and let you go!

i've stopped smoking since i came to ireland anyway, since i can't seem to find anywhere to get it on a regular basis. would probably still be doing it though if i did.

got some off a taxi driver over xmas which was nice. just a joints worth, but he gave it to me for free (i ended up giving him a big tip though.:D). only thing was, i discovered i couldn't skin up any more. i thought it would be like riding a bike. :rolleyes:

In UK marijuana is a class c (same as steriods), so in theory ppl will not be arrested for possesion of a small amount, the smoke will just be confiscated and they'll get a caution. Cannabis resin is still class B and Hash oil is class a (cos it's a liquid and the poor fuzz think someone might be dumb enough to inject it!)

Well said packarooney, a tenner a gram for decent weed is not 2 bad, considering we are on the edge of Europe!

I've usually paid anything from €6 to €12 per g in NL (depending on quality)

(17:34) Gardaí have seized 8 Kilos of Cocaine with an estimated street value of 800,000 Euro following the search of a house in Carbury, Kildare on Saturday morning.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by gardaí from Naas and Newbridge also seized 20 Kilos of a mixing agent which is incorporated with the Cocaine for distribution purposes.

This would inflate the value of the Cocaine to a street value of 2 million
