    Dear Member,

The UK Major record companies through their mouth piece the BPI* have unfortunately restricted the UK and Irish consumers right to enjoy the freedom of the World Wide Web.

As from this weekend, any CD ordered for delivery to the UK and Ireland will incur a surcharge as we are only able to deliver CDs manufactured within the EU (more expensive).

Delivery to the rest of the world will not be affected.

Are they honestly trying their best to get people to become wares monkeys ?

yo can imagen the metting "Er sales are down in ireland and england because people are useing the internet to download free music what should we do" Pelb 2 : " I KNOW! get all the legel irish/english online stores to charge more that will teach them kazza users!" ........jesus

I use cdwow a good bit,

They didnt pay tax to the irish goverment, not like amazon who have to charge 21% tax on everything (not their fault)

And the CD's Didnt add to the european exchequer. So its is CDWOW's fault. As the other companies are just adhered to the laws, albeit stupid

So the plan is to buy records wholesale in EU, ship them thousands of miles, then ship them back again. And CD WOW will have to pay the royalties and VAT they were accused of cheating on..

    OK that I understand.

The bit I don't understand - maybe IMRO can help me here - how come they are still only charge about 60% of what the local guys charge ?

HMV are a joke IMO. 22eur for a CD is , well, crazy.

However their chart mainstream CD's are around the 20 - 18 mark close to CDWOW's. Who dont stock obscure CD's "imports".

Which may have something to do with the price. Mabey CDWOW wont buy from the EU,ship to hong kong, back to ireland. And set up a european headquarters.
