    Here's a Shockwave 3D toy ( it's under 500K ) developed in Ireland for a Web 3D competition.

It includes a few cool features, such as a Magna-doodle sketching side, a movie streaming side and... an Irish and Ulster scots counting side!

See if you can find the secret compartment!

No it isn't rubbish. That's really nifty.
The movie previews didn't have sound for me unless I paused it and unpaused it. What's Ulster Scots btw? It sounded just like English except with a nothern accent. I was curious also as to why English had a US flag rather than a British one.

Ulster Scots is supposed to be a language in its own right according to some ppl in Ulster - it's actually just a regional dialect of English. They had an ad in the business section of the Irish Times a few weeks ago in English and Ulster Scots advertising some job to do with culture in Ulster. The Ulster Scots was basically Ulster country English written phonetically.

Personally, I think it's just certain unionists jealous of the fact that the nationalists claim Irish as their own language and wanting to have their own language too. This is dumb though - Irish has nothing to do with religion - many Protestants were involved in Irish language movements and those who speak Gaelic in Scotland (it's very closely related to Irish) are (or were in the past anyway) staunch Protestants. In theory it's not impossible to be an Irish speaking unionist.

The 3D toy is just a bit of fun, not really a focal point for discussing the pros and cons of two minority languages. I'm sure the Irish Language section would be interested in discussing it in more depth.

    :)

    LMAO!

Very creative red_ice! Are there any other budding Rolf Harris's in the room?

Thanks for that Simu. It does sound as if they just want to not be outdone by the other side having their own language, but are too lazy to actually learn Scots Gaelic. The first time I heard Scots Gaelic, I was amazed to hear how similar it was to Irish. I could understand it as easily as if it was Irish.
