    viral meningitis is the least severe of the various meningitis strains. You get sick but you don't die or get bits amputated due to blood poisoning. Bacterial meningitis is the nasty beast. The people who died from it were probably the same kind of people who would die from the flu.

    Virral meningitis is the less serious kind. Bacterial is worse, because it can be airborne. A virus cannot exist outside of a living host, and therefore contact with an infected persons bodily fluids would be neccessary to even be at risk. Same risk as sitting beside someone with HIV - you arent gonna catch it through sheer proximity.

    Not necessarily, virii can be spread by coughing or sneezing, with certain exceptions including HIV....
