What ever you have to say about Celeb Farm at least RTE aren't treating us to Celeb Jungle. B list stars from Britian, actually I don't think there even as famous as the irish group of people. There are to many Z list stars in Britian for anyone to be famous.

Well done TV3 for giving us: -
... an innovative approach to programming, news and current affairs, TV3 continues to challenge established broadcast practice.

This is interesting. It is another move towards having an ITV 1 Ireland.

why don't the BCI take their license, they routinely fail to meet the minimum amount of indigenous programming and even most of that is made up ireland am/best of ireland am omnibus, which is basically just a padded out 3 hour news bulletin

RTE didnt even bother to get B list stars for Celeb Farm. Twink was the most famious head on the bloody thing ffs.

Why is everyone so bent out of shape over what TV3 shows anyway? 90% of the TV shows made in Ireland are complete crap at best.

In fairness I have to agree with smiaras they did a good job of getting some relatively famous celebs. Its a shame Stan Collymore and Frank Carson pulled out. I might just watch a few episodes to laugh at Jordan

Would have been great if they had got Jodie Marsh.

Her and Jordan stuck together for a while would have been very funny.

Apparently Jordan gets bitchy when someone has big tits around her so her and Kerry should probably end up fighting if all goes according to plan.

Knowing the stupid people that usually vote on these shows they will probably vote Jordan out first, still hopefully she starts a row with Kerry before she goes

It's just an insult to the people that TV3 are showing this rubbish when they must know the vast majority of the population have access to ITV if they want it. TV3 is nothing but a re-broadcaster. Apart from "Agenda", they offer nothing unique to the watching public. No Irish drama,no current affairs, nothing. To think there was such a huge clamour for a 3rd channel before it started.

Lets hope it rains and gets muddy.

Also... TV3 are owned [partly?] by Grenada or someone else who also [do they not?] have a share in ITV. So really a lot of what TV3 show may be decided over in the UK. The thing is though, there is not enough quality programms on television anymore. TV has defenitatly gone pants over the last 5 years or so. We get imported tripe from the states [Now some of the stuff is good and worth a watch but thats only a few shows] and due to the fact that the viewing public will now watch utter crap for the reason of watching something, TV stations can really show what they want nearly.

They seem to be lowering themselves into showing rubbish to catch a growing audience of ... well, wasters.

Granada which has now merged with carlton to become ITV, own 45% of TV3. However I don't think that Canwest who own the other 45% would be happy that all the decisions are made by ITV. Why don't we get more Candian Shows????

I also don't think that TV3 is much of an Irish Station if decisions about programming are made in the UK.

But then TV3 isn't an Irish Channel, It's is all about money with them. They are not much of an alternative to RTE or any of the British Channels.

Just another Franchise of ITV. TV3 = ITV Eire.

What does Rick Hetherington actually do?????

TV3 have been shown up to be what they are - a limp extension of the ITV network. The only thing they didn't simply re-broadcast was the little 'Cue ads next' icon ITV use before an ad break. I presume they are paying for this series, and if so, should they not have been able to:

    1. Ensure that an Irish interest participant (or 2) be on the show - for most other reality TV series in the UK this is almost de rigeur, even when there is no Irish broadcaster involved. I am thinking about an Irish person that would also be well known in Britain - say Bob Geldof, Ardal O'Hanlon, Niall Quinn, Amanda Byram, Patrick Kielty, Terry Wogan, Keith Duffy, Louis Walsh, etc.

    2. Gain some kind of control over the production - at least so as they could superimpose their own voting numbers for the show - after all, a key component to the show is audience participation / revenue generation. Instead TV3 opt for the 'competition in the break' lark they always do with big shows.

In my huimble estimation, TV3 are either a) not paying a lot for the series b) are being used as a pawn by ITV networks to curb the potential of UTV (especially in relation to Sky Ireland) or c) Seriously inept at closing a programme rights deal.

TBH, I think this show is the only Celeb/Reality show I can stomach. It's nice to see Z list celebs being tortured. You can't even compare it to Celbrity Farm. The production, presentation etc is a million times better than RTE's woeful attempt. Even the 'Celebs' are more interesting. It'll be interesting to see how Johnny Rotten gets on. Hardly the same as watching the likes of Mary Kingston.

Watched it for about 30 minutes, man it was brutal!! I wathced Des Bishop instead much more entertaining

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,102 ✭✭✭Genghis

The only thing I watched it for was to see how Johnny Rotten would get on. Stuck with it for maybe 25 minutes, then left it. I simply could not 'suspend reality' long enough to believe that any of them are in any real danger whatsoever. Don't confuse this with 'reality TV' - the whole show is in fact a contrived reality: the jungle is not itself, the paid contestants won't be themselves, the bulk of what will be televised will be controlled stunts, games, etc where the participants are forced into situations for entertainment purposes.

Oh, and Ant and Dec bug me. I might flick through now and again, and I am sure I will hear about whos winning / losing, but other than that I won't have a great deal of interest.

Of course, the big plus with having this on TV3 is that the SO can watch this in the other room / record it while I view something else on the satellite!

Watching Peter Andre trying to flirt with a very unbashful Jordan is enough to make anyone ill!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭vibe666

why can't we have it more realistic?

how about 'I was almost a celebrity for a while and i'm desperately trying not to end up like dean gaffney. please come and punch me in the face very hard for being such a desperate twat'.

now thats something people would watch!:D :D:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 269 ✭✭Nike_Dude

In fairness its not that bad, the only two celebs who look like they are only there to make up the numbers are Mike Read and Diane Modale all the rest are pretty entertaining. Andre trying his best to score with Jordan is very funny nearly as funny as his song about cloning. The best is Johnny Rotten though he is quite liable to flip out at some stage

Day 6, still havent watched or read anything about it (not even this thread) WOOOHOOO

tbh this is one of the better reality tv shows, i think the genre is dying and this will be the last good one. i really like peter andre trying to get into jordans knicers, especially when he tried to turn her on with his crap jusin timberlake dancing, it was cringeworthy. Johnny rotten is starting to get interesting, he is complaing about jordan and is say there will be a row in the next day or so, also watching the bushtucker trials is fantastic television.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

I loved it when he called Jordan "a page three blow up balloon" :D

i think it pretty good and fuuny to watch. I think its one of the better reality tv shows. As said, it a good laugh watching the bushtucker trials and peter andre trying to gte it on with jordan

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,013 ✭✭✭✭eirebhoy

I have watched it a few times and I can't see anything wrong with it. Its fun watching Lord B trying to get Jordan and Alex to take their clothes off. Johnny is play acting trying to get the votes as he never actualy looks angry when shouting at the camera. I'd like to see Kerry win it as she seems like a nice girl and she hasn't got a problem talking about personal issues.:) TBH I think soap viewers deserve more stick then Reality TV viewers and if you watch both you have to get out more.;)

I am suprised at the amount of times I hear that given the viewing figures. Either people just don't like admitting watching it or they are just liars. I am a 21 year old fella and most of my mates watch it. What is so bad about it?

People slag off reality TV (myself included for the likes of Big Brother). I actually think If these reality TV shows were out 30 years ago and the soaps only began a few years back, everyone would be slagging off the soaps. Its all just something to gripe about.

    Soap is slagged off.

Two of the worst kinds of TV:

    1. Soap
    2. Reality TV

    :(
