I just want to get some views out here....

I really dislike students, and always have done, even through my days as an undergrad...when I worked to pay my way through college....

I was just wondering if anybody else has any issues they'd like to post regarding these soap-dodging leeches on society?

(in general they are - i know there are some students who work and pay their way...but everybody should do this...so don't get all high and mighty with your backlash!!)

I don't see how they're leeching on society. Society requires an educated workforce, so helping students makes sense. I got a grant for a couple of years, which didn't even begin to cover my expenses but it was a help, and I've paid it back umpteen times over in the last few years working through the big whopping lump of tax I pay every year. By the same reasoning if I return to full-time education then I won't feel bad at all about receiving any sort of help with it. Sure, lots of people don't make the most of the privilege and don't realise how well off they are, but so what? You can take a Frank Grimes style approach to those people, but it won't do you any good personally to carry those sorts of issues around with you.

I think most students have to work their way through college. Some struggle really hard doing horrible jobs. Its not nice calling them leeches for receiving a bit of help from the government.

I don't see you complaining about single mothers or employment benefit. Atleast students are providing a skilled workforce for the country.

STUDENTS: There should be no grants, and anybody seeking education should provide for it themselves.

SINGLE MOTHERS: Get a job. Why do you deserve to be paid for not keeping your knickers on? (Or alternatively, why not keep hold of your man?)

UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT: Why should I pay for you to sit at home when there are plenty of entry level jobs out there! Try McDonalds...

I base this on our history of emigration from this country and the impending loss of all IT jobs to India and China in the not-so-distant future...

However, unless you have a visa, or win one in the Visa Lottery you will struggle to get a Visa to work in the US based on the intellect(or lack thereof) that you show in your posts.

I am not trying to antagonise you, I just say what i think, and to be perfectly honest i believe your IQ is probably smaller than your age and you would struggle to stay out of one of Norway's infamous 'homes for children' if you had been unfortunate enough to live there.

Do you think that a solution would be to offer people less chance to get through a college education by cutting off all governemnt grants? Surely it doesn't make sense to educate less people rather than more!

Sterilisation springs to mind as something that should be investigated....in my opinion anyway.

I dislike students because the year I went to college both my parents retired, so when I did make it to college the Gov wouldn't give me a grant as it was working off my parents last business year.

So while I had no grant I saw plenty other students taking the piss not even bother to finish the year, but yet they got a grant
it pissed me off..
