we've all heard the cliché in film never to work with animals or kids. of course sometimes this doesn't stand up when you see a fantastic performance from an animal in movies, often far superior to the quality of acting in say 'fair city'.

i was watching john carpenter's 'the thing' yesterday and thought the infected (alien) dog which wanders into the american camp was absolutely brilliant, put on a great evil zombie-type act

any other animals who put in good acting performances in movies ?

I saw a film called Last of the Dogmen with Tom Berenger recently. He had this dog which acted brilliantly.

The lil Jack Russell from Frasier (Eddie, his real life name is Moose) is a cool little doggy :)

He has a son aswell that's an acting-dog. They both played the same dog in that film My Dog Skip (son as the younger version and dad as the older one)

yeah 'eddie' from frasier is great, never knew his son was in acting too! i wonder do some of these animals get anything out of acting, invites to parties, oscar ceremonies?

most likely they get an extra helping of pedigree chum and a pat on the back as their owner pockets the cash.

Clyde from Every which way but loose and all the animals in Babe and the sequel were great, it must have taken them forever to make those movies.

The little monkey in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arc was pretty good! Maybe he's a distant ancestor of Marcel/Spike of Ace Ventura fame.
