    Has anyone else had a problem programming their Sky remote to work their TV?
    I have a Mitsubishi TV and have followed the Sky instructions to the letter and no joy.
    Is there another code or something I need?

    Is it the instructions from the manual that you used?

    If so there are different (and better instructions) for tuning in the remote. These can be found in the interactive services. From memory, press Interactive and select Sky Customer Care. From there select technical assistance. In there you will see options to set up your remote. It is fairly straight forward to setup from there.

    I have a newish Mitsubishi Black Diamond BD28xxxx and after putting the correct code you have to press power then TV several times to "cycle" through the sub-option models of Mitsubishi ....

    Or something. The intruction about which buttons to press on remote are in handbook (there are two separate sections with different code lists!).

    Works fine,

    I wrote code AND number of presses inside battery cover.

    The coloured buttons DO work "fast Text", and also open TV menus, but never figured out how to naviagate TV menus with Sky remote.

    In TV mode

    Text = Teletext
    Backup = Exit Teletext
    Help = Cycle through AV inputs!!!!

    IF cabled and installed correct, pressing Sky selects the SCART that Digibox is on, NO MATTER which SCART you use.

    Only one SCART does RGB. I use it for the DVD player as many Digibox programs go through PAL analog coder at some stage (thus making RGB mode of less value), wheras any Film to DVD transfer may be PAL frame rate and sampling, but has NEVER seen a PAL analog coder.

    (Actually Neither "NTSC" Nor "PAL" Film transfers are at video rate, the frame rate of storage is always 24 fps. If it NTSC, then there are 480 line and less colour sample resolution. IF PAL, then there are 576 lines and more colour sample resolutions. In neither case, nor PAL/NTSC TV to DVD transfer, is the information actually PAL or NTSC colour coded, the PAL and NTSC in regards to film on DVD, in PICTURE mainly differs in vertical resolution (PAL Regions are much higher definition quality.

    Since the PAL player plays the 24fps video at 25fps, the stored sound has been (hopefully) 5% pitch correct prior to MPEG encoding. NTSC players have a 3:2 sequence of frames with alternate lines of one frame comming from two different film frames. In fast pans this looks horriid, so Progressive Scan is popular in USA, but not much point here. PAL player running times are 5% less than NTSC.

    If you use a PC DVD player and select 24fps the video speed is OK and NTSC pull down artifacts vanish on NTSC titles. On PAL titles, the running time is correct, but the pitch if corrected for PAL in the first plase will be approx 5% low -- unless the DVD player has a tick box to "optionally" uncorrect it ).
