I have been getting this muck into my Mail Box all morning and Im none to happy about it, its coming from people that have my email address But I see it as a form of spam what do you think.

    Hi all,

I would like to introduce www.glenxxxxxxx.com to you. Several of you
already know Glenxxxxxx well from previous visits. With a view to
marketing the log cabin, we are giving away another weekend break for
you and your friends in Glenxxxxxx. All that we ask in return is for you
to create some awareness of the property by passing on this offer to
other friends who you feel would also be interested in a relaxing
weekend tucked away in a magnificent log cabin up in the Wicklow
    Mountains.

If you would like to enter for the draw, please forward this email to
some friends while putting info@glenxxxxxxx.com on the CC line. For every
person you copy the email to, we will enter your name into the draw.
Once we have been copied on 20 emails we will make the draw. In
addition, all of you who enter the draw will automatically receive a
booking code entitling you to 10% discount throughout 2004.

If you are quick you may even be in for a break this coming weekend!

    Good luck with the draw.

    Kind regards,

    Tony O'xxxxx

The word "Spam" as applied to Email means Unsolicited Bulk Email ("UBE").

Unsolicited means that the Recipient has not granted verifiable permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the message is sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having substantively identical content.

A message is Spam only if it is both Unsolicited and Bulk.
    Unsolicited Email is normal email
(examples include first contact enquiries, job enquiries, sales enquiries, etc.)
    Bulk Email is normal email
(examples include subscriber newsletters, discussion lists, information lists, etc.).

This distinction is important because the Direct Marketing Association, the pro-junk group who lobby on behalf of the junk email industry, try to dupe politicians into thinking anti-spam organizations want "Unsolicited Email" banned, in order to dupe policitians into voting against anti-spam laws.

    Technical Definition of "Spam"

An electronic message is "spam" IF: (1) the recipient's personal identity and context are irrelevant because the message is equally applicable to many other potential recipients; AND (2) the recipient has not verifiably granted deliberate, explicit, and still-revocable permission for it to be sent; AND (3) the transmission and reception of the message appears to the recipient to give a disproportionate benefit to the sender.

Chill out fellas! Its spam as you did'nt ask for it and there is nothing you can do about it unless you can use a filter programme with your mail reader. Hit delete.

    Mike.

try www.fastmail.fm as your mail account

far superior than hotmail or the like

If you didn't explicity sign up for it, then it's unsolicated and therefore spam.
Which is illegal in this country as long as the email originated in this country
They also seem to be trying to build up a database of addresses (i.e. forwarding the mail to your friends but also, cc'ing the original sender) probably with the intention to send them emails.
