IOL No Limits

I am thinking of using IOL's No Limits tariff. Currently I am on Indigo and have good connections with them. Is IOL any better or worse than Indigo?

Especially for connection speeds, if its a free phone number then redialling 20 times to get a connection is just tedious but not costly.

    well Decay
if your phone bill is hudge
    you should switch them
but for some people it can be good, others worse
    depends at the time also
but over all sometimes its worth it

I'd recommend it, it's got a lot faster and more reliable for me recently, and it does save you money if your phone bill is huge. Also it gives a more leisurely feel to using the internet, you dont have to hurry or worry about time because its free anyway smile.gif

Hmmmmm let me see....moderator, moderator, moderator ah yes Monty not MiCrO. confused.gif

This was a general enquiry not related to webmastering although you could give it a technology angle. I presumed that people here might be able help.

Anyway, who rattled your cage or are you just throwing your rattler out of the cot tongue.gif

I was thinking that the lack of pressure ala time/cost is cool.

Well... IOL/ESHAT Suck no limits is waaaaay cheaper, and like Mills said, there's no rush when you're online, which is nice.
It's an overloaded ISP, so expect to redial a few times before you connect, and have stupidly high and spiking ping when playing any description of online game, just before getting spontaniously disconnected while you're in the middle of something.
It's great at about 2am when most users are asleep, but from 6pm to 12 midnight expect no mercy.
But if all you're doing is browsing the web, downloading, or sitting hour after hour in IRC, then there's no better dial-up account for ya'.

How about using ISDN to lower the ping and kill the spikes??

Let me guess.....No ISDN allowed frown.gif

At roughly 50p an hour on evenings and weekends thats almost 400 hours in two months or 6.5 hours a day every day 7 days a week. eek.gif

    Thats unreal biggrin.gif

try out esatclear for your phone line anyway much cheaper for general usage. Methinks you need nolimits much much more than I do smile.gif

Yeah go get IOL Gold or something (about £120 a year). You can use ISDN, but you have to tell them. You will get better priority on their modems than an Oceanfree pay-as-you-go acccount.

Has anybody used ISDN with IOL No Limits. They you cant but on ie.comp several people say you can.

Is this just rumours or has anybody done it?

I've tried it a few times but it wouldn't accept the connection; the closest I can get is my modem through the analogue POTS on the hi-speed box. I hear they're planning an ISDN version of the service for this spring though.

I rang IOL about this and the ever helpful assistant said

    "Whaaa?"

    "you want to use Whaaaa?"

    "You need a modem"

After explaining briefly what an ISDN TA was she said she would find out. Five seconds later..."We dont do that" frown.gif

I asked would it be available in the future?

    "We dont do that!"

    Yeah but....

"I'm sorry is there anything else I can help you with? No. Ok"

End of conservation. Brilliant eh? mad.gif

Well me thinks that if this is hat happens when you are trying to sign up what happens whenyou have problems mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

i dont know if this is true or not but I heard some snl subscribers received an email informing them that esat fusion planned to limit usage of the service to 3 hours, dissing them after that time.

    anyone received this?

Go get IOL Gold, you can then use ISDN at cheaper rates for faster speed.
