    "someonewhosetryingtoforcetheiropinionsoneveryoneelse"

Usually women trying to make a name for themselves by trying to lead the way socially. But as your intimation suggests, it backfires as people see through it.

Damn, can't think of the word either, bet it's a good one though.
like ; "Socially repressed", "Munchausen's by proxy" or somethin'
    :)

In the early days of the Dail it used to be a regular that people would get up on their hind legs and claim to have loved and spoken Irish "when it was neither popular nor profitable", simultaneously throwing a dirty look at the new Gaels who would throw in focail agus focail eile.

i'm surprised by some of the replies here.
imo, there's nothing wrong with going off something once it becomes ubiquitous, it loses that special magic it had when just you and a few others had experienced it.

"gary jules - mad world" is a prime example of this, i loved that tune after watching donnie darko this time last year. now, the constant whoring of it on the radio makes me glad that i rarely, if ever, listen to the radio.
i still love the song, just not as much as when I could moderate when and where i heard it.

NO that's different thats when you hear or see something too much and it loses its novelty. I mean someone who dislikes it because its popular!

Close, but how about avant garde and trend-setter / trendy (trendy comes before popular / fashionable).

Of course stylish / classic beats fashionable any day.

    Take it from me,
There is no single word for it but I feel that, in this case, a word should be invented for it.
