I was on a bus tour recently of Dingle Bay and its surroundings. Sitting behind me was a group of teenagers from the US. This is what I overheard...

"Yeah, when I heard it was called Dingle, I was like Dingle? There's a place called Dingle? [Beavis]Huh huh huh huh huh... Dingle[/Butthead]"

    So, is Dingle funny?

This is probably why they thought it was funny. (Warning - gross!) Not funny for Irish people, though.

That's the funniest thing ever! The thought of Faust sitting at home scratching his head wondering why somebody would start a thread and then 4 posts later denounce it for being a **** thread.

Faust, I refer you to simu's link.

No, it's not funny. Funny would be Mianus or Intercourse or any of the ones mentioned in the FHM year planner.

The world doesn't evolve around FHM..... Get a life.

What I think is funny is imagining the conversations people must have been having that led to them coining the word "dingleberry"!

where I come from we call them dangleberries (which makes a whole lot more sense) Can also be used to describe them bum grapes (haemywhatsits)

People say that in England? I thought it was an American word... maybe that's where the English got it?

dangleberry is an english word afaik...dingleberry may very well be an amercan one...unless they borrowed it and changed the spelling as usual ;)
