Right now I'm witnessing a classic example of RTE's pure scheduling idiocy.

RTE, in their wisdom, have decided to show the new series of Smallville at 1pm on a Saturday.

The first episode is being shown right now. And they didn't even advertise it. What are they at?

The fcuk? You're kidding right? RIGHT?! What utter incompetent morons. I mean this is yet another class example of their concept of scheduling - earlier in the year they got bored of 'CSI' and yanked it off the air mid-season. A new series of 'Smallville' at this time - NO ADVERTISING.
FFS - put it on TG4 instead where they treat their viewers with far more respect.

I wouldn't have even known, if I hadn't accidently turned it on and recognised it as the first episode from the 3rd series...

MOD EDIT: Sorry but I can't allow the discussion of possible warez.:ninja:

The same can be said for Enterprise and South Park on Channel 4. They didn't appear to advertise the new Enterprise series and I've missed the last three years of South Park, thanks to them not advertising it at all and putting it in a graveyard slot - made think they were repeats when they were new...

Hehe, remember hearing so much about Babylon 5, how great it was etc. Then having a conversation with someone - "So that was one of these 70's cult tv shows right?", "No, this used air the same time as Deep Space Nine", "What? I never knew it aired in the past few years!".

They've also failed to show one single of episode of That 70's Show for past two years. They can't even make their DOG tags transparent like TG4 and TV3....

Just to let you know what RTE Network 2 are like, I have compiled their statistics.

Which is soooooo annoying. Basically N2 of late have been getting up my nose.

Statistics of Network 2’s prime time schedule

    Number Of Programme Hours = 28hrs = 100%
    Number Of Irish Programme Hours = 7hrs 20mins = 26%
    Number Of Original Irish Programmes for N2 Hours = 1hr = 0.03%
    Number Of Foreign Programme Hours = 20hrs 40mins = 74%
    Number Of Repeat Programme Hours = 8hrs = 28%
Number Of Movie Hours = 12hrs (6movies taking the average as 2hrs per movie) = 42%
    Number Of Documentary Programme Hours = 8hrs = 28%

Programmes outside the 6 to 11 primetime

    New:
    Meeting Che Guevara 30mins
    Street Time 1hr
    Western Union Football 30mins
    That 70’s Show 30mins
    A Scare At Bedtime 10mins
    The Book Group 30mins
    The Dead Zone 1hr
    Ed 1hr
    Six Feet Under 1hr 20mins

They could just repeat it then, showing it primetime on a weekday. Especially seeing as they like repeating things so much that they refuse to buy any new episodes (eg That 70's Show).

Whoever is doing the scheluling for RTE (Net 2 in particular), is a mentalor....

Oddly they fired Head of N2 (Who happens to be head of scheduling) due to some harrestment of presenters, I beleive it was Socky and Dustin who ganged up on him and had him fired in the end. (All over the news papers)

So they replaced that guy with TV3's Scheduler???? What the hell he has done to N2 I do not know.

They could AXE Emmerdale and Coronation St. and Fair City and EastEnders etc etc.

Too true!! Make some room for good programmes. There are way too many soaps. If you live with a woman you cant watch tv from 6-9 pm. AGHHHHHH!!

Anyway, does anyone remember about 3 years ago when they used to put Law and Order on at 12.30 am??!!! that annoyed the sh!t out of me. Talk about messing up your sleeping pattern!

I'm expecting the move back to some crappy slot anytime soon. After all it's probably popular, like CSI, so it makes SENSE to move it into a god awful time slot so we can have repeats of old nature programs that nobody watches

    Things N2 should do:-

    1. Wednesday Nights:- Make it a sports night when, Chapions League is not on put other sporting programmes on, rather then replacing Chapions League with Beaker, Law and Order and Law And Order CI.

    2. Get rid on N2 wild History etc.:- Why because they are not PBS by any streach of the imagination most of the docs are very bad and aren't worthy of a prime time slot. Instead at 8pm each night put a new show on.

    3. Monday Nights:- Make it comedy night one more not just after 9 from 7 to 11.

    4. News 2:- If you want it at 11pm every night then put the movie on Thursday nights on at 9pm, if it runs over don't show as many adds.

    5. Cop On:mad:

I agree with all your points Elmo. I would love to meet the Network Two scheduler and give him or her a punch. He or she has ruined a once decent channel. It is now by a country mile the worst of any of the Irish channels. I used to watch it regulurly but now I actually can't remember the last time I watched anything on it! I thought it was aimed at the 15-35 age group but its current schedule scarcely reflects this and most of that age group have to wait till after midnight to find something decent to watch on it with the exception of Friends of Scrubs. No more wildlife documentaries, cookery programmes and old films PLEASE!!!!! My advice to multi-channel viewers would be to watch Smallville, Monday Nights at 9.00pm on E4, 10.00pm on E4+1 , repeated on Sunday's at 8.00 and 9.00 on those channels!
