I used FastLynx before to transfer a bunch of files across campus. Worked really well.

    It is what it's.

Well you afto enable File & Printer Sharing and make sure both comps are on the same Workgroup and then use Network Neighbourhood to find the other comp; you need to share files before you can transfer anything.

you can transfer via ftp, windows shares (possably the easiest way to do it) or use msn messenger and transfer files from one account to the other, if you have net access (if you have a network set up, it transfers though the network, not the internet).

    messenger seems handy alright

dont like file sharing that much cause you have to share the files you want to transfer

    thanks all anyway

    This doesn't make much sense.

You can just restrict access to the shared files so that only the other computer can access them. And/or temporarily share the files, then 'unshare' when you've finished copying.

Sending files over IM seems the most retarded thing i`ve ever heard.

Create a folder called "share" on each PC, right click properties > sharing, set to whatever you need (read/write). Enable File sharing.

As already stated you can set both pc`s to be one the same workgroup, or use the ip`s
