Someone get me on IRC !!

How in zee smeg do I get on IRC.
It wont allow normal Irc connections, seems to only allow http watchamacallems
So there.
So gimme something I can use to get on IRC.

Your looking for a web based IRC client that will allow you to go out on the web port (80? 8080?) and reroute your stuff to the IRC ports.

Spacechat used to do this, but they stop it with that ****ty Java app. I have no idea what place does it now.

This is what your looking for Slaanesh. It will route trough a HTTPS proxy to irc server and works nicely. Some proxys.

Yeah Have the same problem here in UL
not to meation they haven't fully open the Labs in the Computer Science Building so Have to go to the libary during the day and have the "libarians" looking over your shoulder

Slaan..I had to use that bounce thingy to connect from UL cos of this new gay proxy thing...it should work from Blanch, do you know which proxy they're using there?...the lads used to use it from Portobello too.

what we need to have is an external server set up, to bounce connections from port 80/8080/8001(in itb), to port 6667-7000 for IRC, and then then bounce the info back from 6667-7000 to port 80.

It would be a simple program to write, even in mIRC
but the problem is we need a server that is willing to give up port 80 ,
(cos thats the only port that our proxy will allow connections on ).

if there is enough demand for it, we can all pitch in for a dedicated server, and develop a program to to that, and make millions!!!, hehe;(

Thats what i said to u the other day samhaill. Thing is if people abuse this proxy we might get (and they will) it will just be blocked by the servers. BTW brian whats the prob with using ur server? u have acces to 80. You could password it or use accounts or something.

welllll....

i do have a web server, not an entire server, the dns points to a directory on their server, try a lookup on the ip address, it resolves to the host.
so i dont even have access to an ip ,


sher if they block the ports totally, dont u think we will be back here, or another place, looks for ways around it ,


perl should be able to bounce ports around like that, but im not even 1/10th the way there, of doing it.
