    Absolutely ages since they have had films I want to watch. They seemed much better a couple of years ago.

    No doubt Sky will give them free carriage or something for being in the Family pack.

    Since Cartoon Network and then Boomerang became part of Sky stable it seemed inevitable. TCM on the other satellites has been encypted a long time now. It stood out as almost the ONLY FTA on 28.2 encrypted everywhere else. Unlike TV5, DWTV, Al Jezzera etc which are FTA almost EVERYWHERE else.

    Don't Time /Warner/AOL own it now or is it still owned by Ted Turner?

    Owned by AOLTW (part of the Tedsempire buyout by TW a few years ago), part of which is owned by Ted (most of the purchase price was in TW shares - Ted is the biggest single individual shareholder IIRC).

    TCM's biggest asset (er, only asset really) has always been its rights to the old Warner catalogue, bought by Ted for TNT quite a few years ago. These days because TW own TCM they own their own back catalogue again.

    not forgetting Eurosport on Analog

    yeah I really miss Boomerang :(

    That's a lot of customers to loose - while there are less people watching FTA than SKY a higher portion of the FTA viewers would be watching TCM than of the SKY viewers. Maybe we're not gullible enough for the advertisers ?

    You cannot blame Sky for trying to monopolise viewing on 28.2°E. After all it is their bread and butter.
    The only trouble is the FTA channels that decide to drink from Sky's poisoned chalace will probably never be watched again. They will get lost in the clutter of better channels. So long TCM, It was a hoot. ;)
