Wild Camping in Ireland

Does anyone know any good sites for Wild Camping in Ireland.
Myself and a few friends (about 12 of us) are planning a tip in spring and although I have been on camping trips in other countries I haven't in Ireland yet.

I'd prefer to avoid campsites, as its generally more fun to camp wild and I'm not so worried about safety with a large group (especially in the age of mobile phones). Is wild camping a "done thing" in Ireland? Very little on the interweb.

Anyone know any good areas? I'd like to be around wicklow (probably near enough to Glendalough) but if its not too far out of the way (its only for two nights) I'd go to a recommended area.

    Thanks

    Syke

If you are biking Forest tracks are handy as you can get a good bit away from passers by and while not exactly soft the track are well drained.

Campsites in Wicklow - Red Cross / Roundwood / Britas but been a very long time since I went and even then they were against some types of groups.. Sorta one on the road between Laragh and Glendalough - river nearby - not free - no facilities.

Some farmers are OK about you using a field - anyone in the group got relations in Wickla ?

Or try Glen Malure - at the very end - it's a Cul Da Sac* so should be quiet

Thanks cpt, but I was asking about wold camping.

I know the campsites pretty well (or at least of them), but I'd like to avoid em and camp in wilderness or off the beaten track.

    Will be driving/haking
