as sad as it is its finished.... personally i thought it was great, almost a cop out with the two boys gettin the girls, a part of me wanted it to go head first in the ground but have to say i was well happy with it

thank you ricky and stephen for a great show, the cringes and the laughs

Great ending to a great show. Best part had to be Brent's reaction to the fat bird showing up. Poor girl :)

As much as I loved the show, I'm glad they didn't drag it out for half a dozen seasons.

Really enjoyed it. Thought it was good to hear Brent tell someone to shut it. And was absolutely delighted that Dawn and Tim finally got together, but I'm a softy these days...

Yeah, I loved it. Happy ending etc. (I heard rumours of the death of David Brent - glad it didn't happen).

I hope the beeb will bring out the 2 episodes on DVD (just for completeness)

    - Dave.

Yep, very enjoyable alright. I know there's the hard hearts out there who will say that it was a cop out that the guy got the girl in the end but I would have gone mad if Dawn and Tim didn't get it together. It's easy to forget when watching the Office, how superb the acting is. If I were to have the Men In Black memory blanking device zapeed at me know and were to watch an episode, I would probably have no idea this was not a real fly on the wall documentary.

    Bravo...

Dawn 'n' Tim foreva ... ;-) lol. She is a cracker though isn't she, eh.

    :)

I just got back from work and watched it. Absolutely brilliant. I doubt there has been or will be a better show than it. David Brent is my absolute hero. Delighted that things worked out the way they did, cos it looked dodgy for a bit. Thanks to Gervais and Merchant for the laughs.

Yeah, I really enjoyed those 2 episodes.
    Brents music video was hilarious.

great ending, really nice, and funny until the final credits.... there was not a moment of any episode that i felt was un-needed.

i thought they were going to end it when dawn is driving away and tim was talking about life going on etc..... that would have been very depressing, im kinda glad they got together, and also that brent was a little bit happy in the end (the fact that he told finchy to f-off was to me a sign of how much he liked the girl)

Easily the best and most original show in decades, and i am also hoping they bring the specials out on dvd, ive been avoiding buying series 1 or 2 in hope of a boxset

I'd a nasty feeling people people wouldn't like the ending, but for me it was perfect. Christmas is depressing enough without adding to it by leaving Tim and Dawn in abject misery...:D

Gald to see so many people on here were happy with it.

Yay! I loved the ending! I even shed tears (of hapiness) for Tim and Dawn because - more so than nearly any other TV couple I've ever seen - I wanted them to get together. And it was nice to leave David happy too. Well done Gervais!

It was fantastic, great that Tim and Dawn got together the reaction of Brent seeing the girl was hilarious.

    10/10

Sad it's all over but as was mentioned above I'm glad they didn't drag it out and ruin it.

I could look at you and come up with something witty and bitey like your a bit but i don't because i'm a profesional, and professionalism is that is what i want...that's all...that's a shame...

I agree, 10/10. I wasn't madly impressed by the 26th December show but the final one more than made up for it. I shed a tear when Dawn and Tim got it together. Awwwww! Never give up! :)

If y'all like Gervais and Merchant, they do a 2 hour show on xfm London on a Saturday afternoon, 864 on sky or xfm.co.uk

Bah, missed it, will it be repeated or has anyone got it on VHS ?

Great show - best bit I thought was when David was saying something like "she's gotta be of equal or less intellegence - which she is!" and yeah when the fat girl came up to him outside hehehe :D . I was really expecting his date to run away at any second though!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

ah it was fantastic the way he kept showing up to the office, even though he ha been fired for 3 years!!!! ha ha "to boost moral", best line was when they were on he dating site and he said "id love a widow" classic

It was only a few months on wasn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,455 ✭✭✭weemcd

i thought it said at the start 3 years, mabye it was 3 months lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

Love the way he called Finchy Chris.

"Chris why don't you **** off"?

When he was in the car and he speaking to the girl on the phone and when the girl asked him whats his name he just shunned her.

    :)

    Dawn is Jasper Carrots daughter.

In Dawn's intro bit in the first christmas special, it was mentioned that she has been away for 2 years, I think.

Managed to find a copy of it.
Very good I have to say.
    Brent a twat as ever.
Glad they went out on a high.
Would be funny as Tim said to go back in ten years :D

Taped them and got round to watching finally today. Brilliant stuff. One of the best scenes since the show began must have been Davids woeful performance at the blind date game with a couple of z listers, along with the trouble he got himself in afterwards.
I was a little surprised at the happy endings. David actually gets a girl that likes him despite what the rest of the world thinks of him. Dawn didnt leave with the wanker. Im surprised they didnt give Gareth a good ending at that rate:D
Davids anti racist arse liicking was also brilliant

"I did a rendition of (whatever song)by(whatever black artist)and the crowd loved it. Oliver loved it too,and hes the office black but they didnt put that on tv!"

i was a bit shocked that brenty actually found a woman that found him interesting but i watched it a second time and there are some similarities in there characters.. i know her character is limited but when she was saying.. you know, you get the money and you never have to see em again.. sort of a brentish attitude i think

They seemed to have similar sense of humour too (pint of vodka).

I can definitely see them doing a "where are they now" thing in a few years....

i dunno, Gervais seems pretty adamant that that was it..... but then again, we'll see how he feels after a chat with the almighty dollar in afew years (especially if he doesnt manage to re-capture this brilliance elsewhere). I dont know if i want another episode, it would feel a little cheap and runs the risk of being a money spinner.... just look at that porrigge (sp) special on before one of the episodes, it was very poor, no-where near as good as the original series (although it could have been a good idea if run properly)

i really liked that bit because it was one of the first times that Brent accepted what someone else was saying... rather than put his own spin on things or get into his usual egotistical rant, he just said 'yeah' and seemed to be sincere (jesus, im really reading into this!!)

I think an Office Wedding Special would be hilarious if Tim and Dawn got married. Can you imagine all the comic possibilities with the Stag night and Wedding day! Brent of course making some cringe worthy speech and singing something written for the day. Gareth trying to kop off with one of the bridesmaids and Keith doing DJ.

I don't think you are. I think what they were trying to show was Brent being himself and how she brought it out of him. She didn't criticise but understood what he was saying.

I liked the way they dragged out the Dawn and Tim thing so much that I actually thought it wasn't going to happen. When Tim asked Dawn would she be able to stay a little longer and the boyf said no they started to walk down the corridor and tim was looking on I was sure she was going to turn around. when she didn't i thought, right that's it, no happy ending.

also did anyone notice how Gareth was wandering around and being frozen out a bit by the others? He had taken on Brent's role and his boss status had excluded him.

does anyone know what the gap was between the end of the last series and this one? is it months or years? i'll have ti watch it again to find out.

At the start of the first special it said that it was almost 3 years later

they did it as though the first + second series ran into each other with no gap, so they say in the special that those were filmed in 2001. & this one is supposed to be this christmas i assume.

I was in TP Smiths and they played "If you don't want me by now" and I was having a good chuckle.:)
