Just wondering lads and lassies does anyone have there birthday on Christmas Day ? One of my mate's birthday is today, Dec 24th. I'm sure there must be one or two out there...

...I also know that Jesus wan't actually born on Dec 25th like 'The Man' leads us to believe.

Well, if Jesus did even exist, it's unlikely he was born on Dec. 25th. The early Christians got that date from pagan winter festivals.

    /cannot help being a pedant

If the christian calendar (bc and ad) is based on the birth of christ, then shouldn't he have been born on the 1st of January?

My mother's birthday is 1st of January, actually.

A few people in my class in school were born on Dec25
(Oct31, hehe, I crack me up)

Jesus was probably born around the end of March. Don't ask me for a link, I'll poke for one after christmas if anyone gives a crap.

Well the calender was meant to start on the year he was born but it seems some monk got the calculations wrong by a few years so he wasnt actually born 0 A,D, or whatever.

Jesus Christ was one of a set of triplets, his brothers, Holy and Merciful, naturally share his birthday.

0 AD doesn't exist, you go s traight from 1 BC to 1 AD (the mathematical concept of zero wan't around back then).

With all the calander changes the original feast was probably on the 21st - ie. the solstice - it was a pagan feast hijacked. Maybe it was little christmas (6th Jan) after all (minus the 4 day so the 2nd of Jan)

"while shepards what thier flocks by night" - points to lambing season ie. spring so perhaps it was a good bit later :)
