Anyone know of any decent PCI sound cards that work on a Mac G4, or any other ideas? maybe USB?
The built in sound is just ok, but even with an iMic, there's something missing. Looking for PC equivalent maybe Yamaha DS-XC or preferably SB Live standard. Any ideas?
Looking for bright mid and top audio. Use headphones mostly. TIA.

I've got an m-audio usb audiophile, works great on a powerbook. I use it for recording music mostly, it might be a little bit more expensive than what you are after, so look at the products on their website www.m-audio.com. They have usb and pci cards for mac and pc.

Not sure where you'd buy them, I got mine from musicstore.com, but with 23 euro shipping (bought other stuff to make it worthwhile).

This looks interesting, gets a good review and the added bonus of using it as a midi controller and dj console !!! 5.1 output

    Interesting stuff

Also check out Thomann I got a great soundcard off em last year,

The maya USB card they have is nice and reasonable and sounds great.

The service is great, fast CS is good and you can pay using bank transfer or CC - highly reccommend em. check the hot deals and if you sign up they'll send you a catalogue every few months (a real paper one by post not an email one!)
