    Hi

I have lots of clips about 15mins long on my computer. Can I burn these onto CD in DVD format (15 mins should fit on a CD) so I can watch them on my playstation 2. If so do you know what software is needed.

    Thanks
    John.

Copied CDs won't work on a PS2 unless you get it chipped.

Ah, the immortal porn collection :D

I dunno if a PS2 will play VCD's(Video CDs) or SVCD's (Super VCDs) but you can always try. Do a google on creating either of the above....

In theory it should work, In practice i haven't gotten it to do so. Not on a PS2 or a standalone.

The format you're talking about is cDVD or miniDVD
http://www.dvdrhelp.com has more info on it.

You cannot put DVd format files onto a CDr. What you need to make is a VCD/SVCD. Make sure your DVD player supports VCD's/SVCD's. You need to convert your video files to MPEG1 (VCD) or Mpeg 2 (SVCD) with TMPGenc (converts Avi/DivX files to Mpegx files).

Go to DVDrhelp.com and have a look at the guides.

Playstation 2 can't play VCD/SVCD (at least not without some kind of mod).

Newer ones can. Older ones can't.

Don't know why that is, and I don't know what qualifies newer or older.

They have to be chipped to do so too, we have 2 PS2s here, both chipped and one plays VCDs, and sits by the main TV. The other doesnt.

"the other sits in the corner and we spit on it and glare at it..." :p

Im not talking about VCD/SVCD format I know these wont work. If you put all the right dvd files on a cd should that not work

PS2 will not read S\VCD out of the box as you know. Mod chip needed.

As for mini DVDs thats a no go. As soon as the PS2 sees the disc is not UDF (DVD) it will say "Ask my b*llocks" and not play.

Again, a mod chip is your friend.

You can put DVD vobs on a CDR....known as mini DVD but your player must support it ;)
    My JD-500 does.

Impossible!! Just get yourself a dvd burner will ya. They are only E100 or so off komplett. Mine cost 500 sterling so its not too much. It's well worth it as you can copy oops sorry i meant backup all ps2 games and movies you own.

Now about ps2's and their playback. Older ps2's are different versions to newer ones' the newest one being v10. All have different strength lasers some allow them to play dvd+r , most play dvd-r and only in the last like 5 months vcd's. Vcd's need a modchip to playback so thats gonna cost like another 100 for a pro install
