a friend has this as a display picture and, being the **** that he is, is refusing to tell me what it is just to annoy.
i've googled all i can but can't tell what its from....
i think its from a film/tv show but i don't know what at all.
the only hint he gave me was "beard"
any help? (we'll pretend its a game)

My guess, one of the company logos you could pick in the game Syndicate on the Amiga.

Not that I pride myself on being a geek or anything, but its from Star Trek the Original Series. It was the Federation's symbol in the mirror universe.

Because in the mirror universe in the original series, Spock had a beard!!! But in the normal universe where this symbols does not exist he did not! ;-)

Gosh yeah, it's so patently obvious when you explain it like that. "Beard" was such a dead give-away.

Passive, please make sure to give your friend a good kick in the nuts. Sounds like he's in serious need of one. Cheers.

    lol :-) I agree!

I wouldn't have gotten it by the clue if I didn't recognise the symbol at all!
A swift kick is well deserved! :-)

Oh you strange people, not knowing almost obsecure Star Trek references off the tops of your heads. Tut-tut... It's almost like you socialised as children.

Scary fact I knew what it was the moment I saw it. I should have gotten out more.

No, a situation like this shows just how important a full understanding of the Star Trek universe is in life :D
