The p4 is significantly faster. Whether you will notice this depends on if you play many games, or do anything else which stresses the machine ( compiling large programs, 3d rendering, video editing/encoding, etc ). But if you just type letters and browse the web, no, you won't notice any difference.

I'd assume the Celeron one lasts longer on the battery as it uses less power. The celerons are a lot cheaper for what I've seen. But Gerry is right about the difference in performance. The celerons are really only good for office, web stuff. Any games, mutlimedia or 3D stuff you'd be better with a P4.

Theres a few different types of P4s too. There a desktop P4, a mobile P4 and the new centrino P4's. You see Laptops with all of these and each has its strengths and weaknesses.

The Desktop run hot and uses more power (poor battery life) but is the most powerful. Then the Mobile P4 is in the middle and the centrino has much better battery life but less power. Theres more to it than that, but thats a very rough guide.
