How many planets are there in the solar system?
How many moons does earth have?

    Ans
    1. 8 aparantly pluto is no longer considedred a plannet. when the solar system was origonaly put forward as an idea they predicted there were 9 planets after they had found 8 there was a big rush to discover the 9th pluto was discovered and called a plannet. Pluto isnt big enough to be considered a plannet an if it was there would be 1500+ planets in the solar system.
    2. apparantly the earth has 2 moons "the moon" and another one called somthing weird like "cruthitny" or something similar. its orbit of the earth is much larger than "the moon" and it doesnt come close very often.

Earth has a second moon, of sorts, and could have many others, according to three astronomers who did calculations to describe orbital motions at gravitational balance points in space that temporarily pull asteroids into bizarre orbits near our planet.

The 3-mile-wide (5-km) satellite, which takes 770 years to complete a horseshoe-shaped orbit around Earth, is called Cruithne and will remain in a suspended state around Earth for at least 5,000 years.

    Naw - not true
Some consider Pluto not to be a planet because it is only the size of a moon - but the same can be said of mercury. Even Charon - Pluto's moon is much bigger than any of the asteroides so it's not 1500, I don't know how many moons are larger than Pluto but it can't be more than 10. The other option with Pluto is to consider it to be a binary planet since it's moon is so big relative to it. But then you would have to apply that to the Earth and it's moon.

Yeah that bit about earth having a moon - without cross checking - I'm fairly sure that there isn't a natural satellite more than 100m across in a stable orbit around the earth. - Ok there might be some trojans - like for Jupiter - but they would be as far away as the Sun.

Neptune due to pluto's orbit...pluto took back the crown in 1999 with a wide stroke putting it back in the books as the furthermost planet in the solar system.....(Neptune held the record January 1979 thru February 11 1999).

Pluto is a planet, always has been always will be due to its obit (however ****ed up)

The correct pronunciation for 'Cruithne' is 'croo-een-ya'
Its diameter is estimated at 5 kilometres
