16:9 signal broken on Sky Sports 2?

Hi,

I've been noticing this for the past few weeks. When Sky Sports 2 are showing a widescreen programme (like Man Utd vs Man City now), my 16:9 TV doesn't automatically switch on to "wide" mode.

I did some experimenting, and changed the settings on my Sky box to 4:3, but the picture was still "widescreen".

At least, it had the "safety zones" at the left of the scoreboard and at the right of the Sky Sports 2 logo, but it's being broadcast as a 4:3 signal. (as a result, the picture quality is worse, too)

It seems to be only happening on Sky Sports 2.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is a just a problem with my Sky box?

it is a case of Sky not fixing the Irish Sky Sports 2 feed :mad:

A way of getting around this is by going into the interactive section where sky allow you to pick either multiple cameras or multiple matches and pick the screen you want. The feed there is from sky sports 2 in the UK and the screen ratio is correct.

Is Sky Sports 2 UK available through other channels, is it unlocked in Ireland?

The interactive feeds seem to be lower quality than the main channel.

a few months ago sky sports 1 & 2 was switched and it messed up my favourites. which mean I now have the uk versions saved in my favourites with no actual number and the irish versions as 401 & 402

the uk versions are perfect, but the 4:3 - 16:9 is ****ed up on the irish versions

Bang in 12.266H 27.5 2/3 for UK Sky Sports 2. It works on an Irish Card as the only difference is the ads.

SS2 on a wide screen TV tonight in perfect ratio. The reason was this pub in a very rural part of Co. Ros has a Pub Subscription which costs big bucks per month. Discovered that the SS2 version is the UK one and that the new VH2 channel can not be received. Why anyone in Ireland is foolish enough to be paying a pub sub to $ky is beyond me!
