Sky install with existing sat system?

    Hi there,
I'm thinking of having Sky Digital installed but I seem to remember that having an existing sat sytem complicates matters... is this still the case??

As far as I recall, the installer would want to use the existing down cable etc and so upscuttle our nice [free][analogue :-)] service from Hotbird (nb gives french & italian channels) !! nb the Hotbird signal is going to an uptairs TV, whereas the SkyDigital would go to the downstairs TV.

Has anyone had this experiance recently? Will it be a problem (= cost more?!) to have the guy NOT interfere with the existing equipment...

...I'd intend replacing the analogue receiver with a digital version as soon as I see a really cheap one and perhaps put an extra LNB on that dish to get other free channels.

Emm... one other thing, is it a lot of hassle to change from the World package to the Family package...?... it seems cheaper to get installation with SkyWorld and change to lower package after 1 month

    Many thanks for any advice.

No problem at all really - I've switched up and down a few times. You'll end up speaking to a CS agent who'll ask you the expected questions as to why. Up to yourself if what you actually want to say (the fastest method is probably to say you just don't watch the movies and sport, wouldn't know one end of a soccer ball from the other and go to the flicks a lot. Or just tell them to do it). Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Freefone number to ring in any case so you could stay on all day and it wouldn't cost you anything except time.

I'll let the usual technical experts answer the technical quesitons rather than me beating about the bush.

Thanks sceptre, I appreciate the info...

The tech stuff is another thing, the nearby installers will know for sure but I imagine being forewarned is to be forearmed :-)
