David Mc Williams - Is he a nob?

Right, I have a real fear of David Mc Williams, he's the guy who writes for the Sunday business post, does the agenda gig for TV3, and also does his own thing on Newtalk 106, if his name does ring a bell. ( you lucky people if it doesn't )

I don't know why but I want to punch the guy, I'm not the violent type, but something in side me comes alive when I hear his name or see his face. Its that horrible feeling you get whe you see cher is still alive, and people walking abou tin parachute pants.

Fairplay to him though, I may think he's an eejit, but he's doing well.

Just to ease my pain does anyone else feel it too

http://www.davidmcwilliams.ie/index.asp is a good one if you consciencely want to vomit, from excessive reading of personal glorification.

    I think he's great.
We don't have too few great journalists in this country
(cue bad reviews and hate mail for tigger).
He'd nearly restore my faith in the Irish nation.
    Note I say nearly.
No idea if he's full of himself or not. To be honest I couldn't care less.

also, does anyone know the other david mcwilliams?
    Ballymena (I think) singer/songwriter.
    Died about 3 years ago.
Big in the sixties with a hit called The Days of Pearly Spencer.
    Love some of that stuff.

You've got to hand it to McWilliams, he's a clever bastard. And a good interviewer.... personally I reckon he's the Irish Paxman. When you compare him with fools like Vincent Browne you should be grateful we've got him...

    I'm with Tigger.

I don't like everything he does or says but I have a lot of respect for him. He's one of the more important journalists in the country.

I like him a lot less on TV, and a lot more in print, where I think he's strongest.

I'm not loving that boyish image he likes to take though. It's fiercely unsettling.

I certainly wouldn't be without him though! :)

Anyboby remember the Newstalk posters around Dublin with David in his wooly jumper? Awful stuff.

Maybe he's not the slickest man on radio or TV, but I think he's probably the most spot on when it comes to political topics, particularly ecomonic issues. I'm with Magpie and TiggerTigger on that one. You've gotta hear him take on the politicians - he can think on his feet and really runs circles around them. Doesn't take any nonsense either.

I think he's far better than Paxman. BTW, has anyone ever heard John Humphries (Mastermind man) in action on Radio 4 in the mornings? Same type of thing, but he would be able to make Maggie Thatcher cry...

I know, fair play to the guy he is doing mighty well. Although I can't think if an excellent journalist/broadcaster like him that does have an attractive character. maybe the two don't mix!

McWilliams dumbs down complex and far reaching issues just enough for me to take an interest in them, absorb the information and form an opinion of my own.

Ah joe duffy is hilarious! that voice, and manner. Plus he could find an opposing argument to anything. they could find a sure for cancer, and sure joe duffy woud be against it, just for the sake of argument!

No, I dont think he's a nob, I like the guy.

He's a good interviewer and generally is interesting.

But then again I know what its like to have an irrational and inexplicable dislike of certain celebrities/household names.

Focus your energy on Pat Kenny, he deserves boiling chip fat flung in his face.

He may be a talented and insightful but he has red hair.

He'll never amount to anything more than a ginger tosser.

    That's extremely insightful, Spaceman.

Do you have any collected writings? I'd really like get my hands on a copy of your work.

And I think Eamonn Dunphy should be a farmer.
He looks like it would suit him.

It is a shame, because that could have been a bitingly sarcastic response you put up there. :o
