Cheap Wrist Watches?

Right, I wanted to buy a watch.
    A good watch.
So I head into town to see whats available.
I find one a Citizen Skyhawk (blue angel) .
Only it cost €499! (Citizen RRP €549) so over i surf to ebay.
I find the titanium version for $280 (€225 approx.) - very nice.
I look in the argos catalogue (who are usually a rip off) - I find the (cheaper)stainless steel version (Citizen RRP $449) for €199!, not titanium but still a bloody bargin.

The titanuium one is apparently not available in europe but I see them in some webshops in england (for crazy money).

My question is - Where is the cheapest place to buy watches, either on or off line?

    cheers,

    WOW

Great minds think a like. I got my skyhawk (CITIZEN TITANIUM SKYHAWK WATCH JR3060-59F) from EBay US. from a trusted source webjeweller.com. They where very good and very quick with the order. cost me about €241.71 (paid €21 for customs)

Here's one of there current offerings:

Here's a point the non-titanium is so cheap in Argos what’s the price like on eBay US....

-> paulj13 Get away ya great big dirty stalker freak!;)

I had that one watched in "My Ebay" and had already queried the seller re: postage to Ireland ("$38.00 SAHIPPING" sic).

I think I'll buy it if nobody can tell me where else to look.
Watches seem soo much cheaper in European shops for some reason but I have not been able to find this (titanium) model any cheaper despite argoss' commendable (stainless steel) €199 effort.

PS -> paulj13 - how do you find the titanium for scratch resistance?
It should be better than SS as its MOH rating higher but I've heard anicdotal evidence to support otherwise...

    Hi Tribble

I disagree that watches are cheaper in Europe. I found the skyhawk I have (the non-titanium edition) in a jeweller in Santry Dublin and it was €475! But then I only looked in the states when I was buying so other location in Europe maybe better then the states.

In relation to the watch I really like it. It fairly cool, even has an energy saving mode so when it's covered by your sleeve it shuts down. Uncovering it again and all the dials spin around to the right time, very cool, if a little pointless.

I'm a little disappointed with the titanium on this one. I had a pulsar titanium watch for three year and it was light as a feather and not a mark on it after that time. This one I think is only titanium coated, maybe they all are I don't know, and therefore makes is a little heavier. It also has a number of scratched on the strap and it only 2 months old. Don’t get me wrong I'm happy with the watch and believe its worth the money I paid for it but with the benefit of hindsight I would more that likely do a big more shopping on eBay......

Oh no I didn't mean you paid too much, in fact I can't (after 5 hours searching) find a cheaper source for that watch.

But the stainless steel one I found cheaper in european online shops than american ones.
But that's irrelavent I suppose - it's not the same watch.

The spec says it's solid titanium - which shouldn't scratch but apparently does, go figure.

Your pulsar was probable titanium nitrite coated which is very very hard.
    Diamond might scratch it.

I think I'll go ahead and buy the Citizen anyway, if only for the power managed swinging hands:)

    hmmm

That is interesting about the price. They seem to have gone up. I defiantly paid €241.71 plus €21 customs as I checked my CC balance before sending the first post.

Actually, I’ve had a look through my old mail and it seems it was 3 moths ago. Here the receipt from EBAY

Total Amount: $264.99 (that was the final bit price)
    Total Shipping: $19.00
    Insurance: $2.00
    Quantity: 1
Item Title: CITIZEN TITANIUM SKYHAWK WATCH JR3060-59F NEW

Looks like webjeweller has increased his shipping charges somewhat. Maybe that will help in your negotiations on a price ;) . Based on this and today’s rates of exchange you should be getting it for €234.12

    Cheers for the info mate.

Hope to be joining you in the ranks of Skyhawk owners soon. :)

PS - the €199 argos watchs is actually an old Navihawk - the predecessor to the Skyhawk with no Eco-Drive - my bad
