Top Gear using canned laughter - Why?

The scurge that is canned laughter appears to be finally breaking into areas that we all thought would safe from its diseased grasp - its being used on Top Gear of all things. Even though there's a perfectly good audience present, the BBC have decided to add canned laughter on top of what the audience produces.

Nah it's not the same since the rest of the team left - JC nice in small doses but can't carry the show on his own.

That was'nt canned (if its the bit I'm thinking of)
but a mix of "live" studio feed and video soundtrack.

I thought tonights prog was pretty good esp that
Toyota Pick-up!

I watched it last night. The stuff they did to the toyota jeep was pretty funny. Clarkson has his moments, but you'd really love to punch him sometimes.
