Finally the petrol cartel has been blown apart thanks to, yes you guessed it TESCO!!! If tesco hadnt of opened on monday you woulda been paying the average of 85c per litre for unleaded plus the 5% increase that pox mccreevy gave us which woulda been around 90c a litre!

If you go to the tesco petrol station in clearwater, North Road in Finglas. If you don't know where it ask your nearest gun totin, cap wearing local. You'll be able to pick up unleaded petrol for 79c and Super unleaded which is about 110 anywhere you can get it is 87c in tesco!! This is including the 5% increase levied as well. now the local garages are following suit by lowering to compete, i won't be going to the fcuking scumbags out of principal. They only lowered their price because they were FORCED to by an excellent competitor. You dont even have to leave your car to pay for the petrol theres attendants to take your money.

    Good stuff i say.

Hmm, I dont have a gun nor wear a cap :D

Nice looking and spacious shopping centre at clearwater, the forecourt is immaculate, you would swear it was laid with gold :)

The Esso & Shell garages nearby were always good for price and i guess competition is good for the long run.
Only reservation is that if the other garages go to the wall over this, would tesco keep their petrol prices low ?

well its basic economics really, startout with low overheads attract the oppositions customers with the excellent services and low price. Whether it stays as low as it is remains to be seen, but out of principal i'll always go to tesco to top up with petrol now even though it wouldnt be my local. Its funny how the local garages can now charge 79c and still make a profit when they shoulda been charging 89c a litre if tesco had not have appeared.

Did I hear somebody say that they give you another 5c per litre off if you spend more than €40 in the Tesco store? How does this work? Do you have to get petrol on the same day? Does it apply to Diesel too?

I understand that the Lidl Finglas has hit that Tesco location hard

Aldi are to open in the area

I guess this fuel offer is one of the ways that Tesco will fight them

Hard times & getting harder for Dunnes & Superquin I am thinking.

The discount you are entitled to is printed on your shopping receipt. You show this receipt when paying for your petrol. You don't have to get the petrol on the same day. Your receipt is good for about 2 weeks as far as I remember. Can't remember whether the same discount applies for diesel.

how do you get to that petrol station from, say the m50.. onto the N2 coming into town?

Apparently (GF tells me) Tesco have been selling petrol in Killarney for some months now with the nice discounting and all

ando if you take the finglas exit off the m50 when heading southbound and take the first exit off the roundabout and head towards finglas after about a mile or 2 you should see clearwater on your right, its just after finglas village.
