Nightmares

Thing is, I have been having horrible nightmares for possibly a week or more. I am not sure because it is gettting difficult to function properly. Its the same thing over and over. I get the nightmare trying to take naps, anytime I try to take a snooze.. and when I try to go to sleep at night and I could be sitting up like this morning and I go off into another nightmare again. It leaves me tossing and turning, sweating like crazy. Getting NO sleep, because all I do is stay laying down. I can't think straight, very difficult to focus on college (exams coming up quick) very irratated to the point I can't stand talking to my mates or family. :( I am very tired and I can't even distinguish if I am awake or dreaming at times. The only way I know how is when something in human happens. I don't know what to do. The nightmares don't stop. My question is can stress do this to you? How about conscience? <-- that bit I have been feeling a bit guilty for some time now, but the nightmares didn't start when the guilt trip was setting in. I have had depression and nothing like this has happened as well. Should I go see a head doctor or some sort of doctor to see what is going on?
And it seems the nightmares all deal with big fears that I have. People close to me leaving, people close to me dying, and being stuck in small rooms. I am being seriously honest. :( I don't know whats going on with me. Should I just call some doctor and try to see whats going on?

I believe, and I’m no authority on the subject, but research has shown that if you have a particular problem, when you go to sleep, your subconscious mind will continue to think out the problem and so you will dream about it until it’s solved. In other words until you sort out what’s stressing you out in the first place you will continue to dream the same dream.

As Beruthiel says, dreams are usually linked to your subconscious... how's about going to see a councellor if you don't know what's causing the nightmares in the first place?

"when you go to sleep, your subconscious mind will continue to think out the problem and so you will dream about it until it’s solved."

Agreed. Something major was going on in work last week, for the whole week, and all my dreams were related to the work I was doing...The work was so intense that I didn't get any peace sleeping and when I woke up, if something went wrong with the "work" i was doing in the dream, I instinctively thought it had gone wrong in my real work also....

So perhaps it is just a temporary thing...if it continues seek some advice.... its funny when you say "is it stress"....could may well be....

    Get well soon...
