I'm more than a little piissed off, it has to be said. The dumb suits at TNT have cancelled the production of the Babylon 5 sequel series, Crusade, after only 13 episodes, apparently because they had "creative differences" with J Michael Straczynski about the show. Typical bloody suits - knowing nothing about the show itself, they wanted to add more sex and violence elements. JMS refused, and they shut down the operation. Sci-Fi Channel were gonna pick it up, but they're over budget for the year already...

This series looked brilliant. It's much more action-oriented than Babylon 5 was, because it's set on a massive warship, but yet will have the same high standard of writing, direction and special FX that Babylon 5 enjoyed.

The 13 episodes that have been made will screen in the US, and undoubtedly will get a UK airing as well. JMS says he's confident that Sci-Fi channel will pick it up next year... but for now, I'm fuming about this.

    Mata ne!

Crusade was kack. What really killed the pilot series was the fact TNT suits got the chance to change the script.

Heh, this post is going back a bit!

Anyway, having now seen the entire run of Crusade episodes, I do think it had a lot of potential - it had humour, and was developing some excellent characters and a good plot arc. A shame that the suits first interfered, and then cancelled it... And then Into The Fire goes and gets canned as well. I guess we just hold on and wait for the B5 cinematic movies JMS has been talking about for so long... :/

    bab5 owned... crusade sucked...
Aren't the bab5 films out already?

I have to agree with Regi. Crusade suffered from bad acting, sets, dialoge and plots. It was not a patch on B5. Althought ill admit B5 had its moments smile.gif

Crusade sucked less than the first season of B5, so it's a little unfair to judge it by the standards of later B5 smile.gif

The B5 TV movies are out, but JMS is talking about doing B5 cinema movies in a few years time - "When Lucas finishes up the new Star Wars Trilogy" I think was the quote.

Yup and they will 0wn star wars ... the TV movies were good enough

The First one "In the beginning" was class yet to see a space battle to beat some of those

"thirdspace" wasn't as good but still held it's own

    Crusade was very good stuff.
I remember staying up till 3 in the morning for it on C4 a few months ago. The episode where they land on a planet and all start killing eachother is excellent.
Your man Galen was classic aswell smile.gif
'tis a pity it was cancelled, had great potential with a 5 year'ish capacity thing going for itself.
But it was, by far, better than B5, my pants are better than B5.

take it back or be killed in a very messy way indeed saying b5 is crap is one thing but saying crusade is better than it .... how old are you 6?7?

Heads up: JMS posted this little tease at the end of a usenet post today:

"I may have some interesting B5 related info for folks very soon, but I don't
want to say anything prematurely. Suffice to say there are some intersting
conversations going on right now with guys in suits.)

Hoenstly though, I didn't like B5, more of a 'trekkie' myself. And I'm not particularly fond of Star Wars either... maybe there's a patern !
