My best starting eleven was when I was at Barcelona and I made my World conquering team, here it is;

GK: Isaksson(No world class but still consistent)

DR: Puyol(Fans favourite and a pretty good defender too)
DC: Mexes(A young Desailly/Blanc except better)
DL: Chivu(Cost £14M but well worth it)

MR: Zambrotta(After two seasons he is a legend)
MC: Arteta(The prodical son returns and plays deadly)
MC: Xavi(C)(Captain Fantastic)
ML: Riquelme(Never got round to getting a replacement TBH but hes decent enough)

AMC: Adu(Hes been a regular since he was fifteen)

FC: Saviola(He really is a wonderkid)
FC: Kluivert(Old reliable)

Won the PL/CL/FA cup treble in 08/09 (i think) with this team (Sheff Wed):

GK: Sebastien Saja (signed for 8 mill in pre season, marginally better than Stekelenburg)

DL: Jay McEveley (got him from blackburn as a teenager for 800k, superb player now)
DC: Philippe Mexes (very solid, replaced him the season after though)
DC: Tim Jacobs (generated Dutch CB, 7.75 avg rating)
DR: Maicon (superb attacking wing back)

ML: Timo Achenbach (world class left mid/fullback, took a while to settle in)
MC: Scott Parker (best player, absolutely superb)
MC: Kim Kallstrom (made lots of goals, peripheral next season though)
MR: Sidney Govou (FRC adequately filling my problem MR position... much better up front though)

SC: Tomi Petrescu (fans favourite, best striker)
SC: Wayne Rooney (goal machine)

The next season i was loaded, bought Cavenaghi for 18mill, 2 generated brazillian midfielders and integrated a wonderkid and a few top notch youngsters and it all went pairshaped. Left and took over as manager of Australia

I was a bit bias having so many young irish players...this was Champiosnhip manager 00/01.... I got Millwall into Division 1 and won the F.A cup, then next season the premiership...but the new game came out so I never got my chance to shine in the prem .....what the hell happened to Foy and Foley Sheridan, why are they playing in the eircom league!!??

e.g Zidane is onlyy 2 million or so, wants £80,000 a week. (max the board will give is £70,000)
Figo is the same, only £85,000

If i offer them something else, will they substitute it for a wage cut?

I think if they state what they want from the start they pretty much always are convincable to sign (except for that Wesley Sonck fecker).

Offer them the max wages you can then bump up their other demands like signon fee, assist/goal bonuses, maybe give min fee release, there's usually a bit of leeway in what they accept.

Also reducing or increasing their length of contract might convince them, ie a 32 year old Zidane might go for a 4 year contract, even though you mightn't want a 36yr old fogey in your team 4 years down the line.

on the best 11 subject, i've never managedd to stick with a team longer than 2 seasons (they always can me:p) but in my 03/04 game i'm in the start of the 2nd season with liverpool.

Never really built a Super XI. Never spent more than 6 million on a player either .
I prefer to make the best with what i have got and then maybe bring a few players through the youth system and a few free transfers if i need them.

Partridge is the man. Average rating of 8 in half a season and scored a 30 yard screamer on his debut. Disappointed with Mexas though. Average of 6.5:(

YOu're right. Partridge is THE MAN. Also John Welsh will prove crucial in a few seasons. Maybe as early as next season

Also, I ran into huge trouble at [DR] after Fiinnan requested a transfer.. and once again partridge stepped up to the call, i play him at DR all the time now, constant 8/9/10s

By playing Partridge at right back i had to find a decent MR to fill his pos. I managed to get haruna babangida from Barcelona b on a free transfer. sheer quality.

i sold john welsh to spurs for 11m, then he was sold on again for 16m to chelsea.. of which is got 40% next transfer fee nice little 4m earner
