It is good but it's nice to know the corners that were cut in the making of this doc. Bit like me losing faith in Oliver Stone when I saw that proggy about JFK. Why can't these guys who speak with a voice I like to hear do so with more integrity?

Moore's tactics are full of the same slanted bigotry (just pointing in the opposite direction) as what he claims to be fighting against.

For a really good (and fun) book in the same vein as Moore's books try Al Frankens' "Lies and the Liars to Tell Them".

Watching it now. Didn't realise it was going to be funny as well (for anyone else watching it, the bit just before the adverts where the guy with a 44 under his pillow tells him that there should be controls on weapons grade plutonium because "there's whackos out there:D)

i think he got the entertainment and information just enough funny moments without making a joke of the situation, it shocked me the amount of gun crime in america, and some of the guys on that show were nuts, i liked the guy who was unawere or Gandi, that made me laugh (i suppose i spelt Gandi wrong lol)

I can't believe there is over 11000 gun deaths in the US every year, while Britian had something like 68. I mean they must realise there's something wrong there!

Yeah moores reply sounds convincing only he doesn't reply to any of the points raised in the earlier link, staging the protest, misleading etc etc.

I wish I had saved a response I made to that link whenever it first serviced last year.

While many of the points prove that Moore has a bias (which he does), most of them point out normal documentary techniques. Their discussion of the Charlton Heston speech is a case in point...

Another point they make, regarding the gun crime figures... They prove that he exagerated them (he didn't base them on the size of each country). What they don't point out is that even with his exagerations removed, the figures in the US are ridiculously high.

They go into how he misrepresented Boeing by claiming they made missiles in Flint, i've rewatched the scene countless times and still can't figure out how they worked that one out.

They say "Bowling for Columbine is dishonest. It is fraudulent".

    They're wrong. It's merely biased.

I should add that i'm not a particularly big fan of the film or of Moore, but I do think it was one of the most important made last year and that it most certainly isn't packed full of lies.

i don't think thats what they said.
it say's nothing in the article about missiles. But in mick's website he replies to a claim ( which i haven't seen anywhere) that the plant in littleton doesn't make WMD's. Which technically it doesn't but it does construct the missiles.
But my point was that Moore doesn't reply to any of the points brought up on
    http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html .
I'm not sure which is true but either way the documentery whether misleading or not still poses some interesting questions and raises some important issues. You may not like his politics but he's a passionate filmmaker/writer.
plus his old tv show "TV Nation" was great. anyone remember crackers?

What are you basing that on?

Based on the facts Iv read on his site (Moore's) along with others not to mention that if he (Moore) had made such wrongful claims then both the NRA and some of the other organisations he has upset in that movie would have there lawyers on him in a flash to sue him for slander/libel.

its hard to sue someone if the only infer something and not don't outright state something. so you're convinced by micks answers to questions no-one asked.

*not trying to start arguement, just i think its an interesting topic.

    ...

Oliver Stone is a motion picture director NOT a documentary maker, therefore he doesn't have 100% truthful but he has to be artistically creative and IMO he is.
