kilkenny is cool, but impractical for the majority. dublin is the way to go, most of the people live here, and most travel routes end up in dublin anyway

Yes but oisins organising this one. and his last one was cork ffs

Good for him. I shall be staying in my little rut of urbanisation for christmas, even if it means having to associate with a bunch of session twoers.

i will encourage division all i want. the vast majority of Dubliners are not interested in using the lovely CIE bus service. and to where? kilkenny is like the back a$$ of nowhere. ffs.
having said that, few people seem to give a rat's a$$ about reunions.

OMG I actually agree with alim. What is the world coming to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭malecO

Well, I won't be there anyway as iI just found out that it's during Christmas. I'll be away with the jyo orchestra in Dublin at that time. Why Killkenny anyway. Nobody'll show up cos it's in the middle of nowhere. Is it even on the train route (dunno)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 152 ✭✭Oisín Collins

This is amazing, what is the world coming to when alim is encpuraging segregation and to be honest i am ashamed in all who agree with him!

If need be this shall be a tiny reunio which i choose to organise as its closer to people living outside of that mass of urbanisation which is Baile Átha Cliath!!!

Will all you dublin people who are afraid of hurley wielding culchies and CIE buses please take a reality check and at least consider this as an option!!

To all those REAL CTYIzens i will let you know the exact date for this reunion as soon as is humanly possible

    Good day to you all!!

    Oisín

You are aware that all transport routes converge on Dublin, with the result that to go from Sligo to Galway entails travelling halfway to Dublin.

i can't tell if your taking the piss or being serious. I'm all for the agglomeration of people, but still, not in the back arse of nowhere. come on, kilkenny?

and to aonghus's 'in fairness' post. THE WORLD ISN'T FAIR, live with it.

What he said, except with less communist undertones and more highlighting of the fact that they world ain't fair and you aren't going to change it without starting a nuclear war.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

    Ok barry a few points

    1. How on earth did you manage to find communist undertones in what alim said

    2. I would have thought that being a talented youth you might realise that global thermonuclear war would destroy the world rather than change it

Ps neil, i dont think this is a flame, and it wasnt supposed to be. At all. if you consider it a flame, please delete it and accept my utmost apologies

Actually i'm gonna tell you all to shut the fu[/b[ck up and get back on topic or the thread gets locked. which isnt fair for people who want to go to kilkenny for this reunion. also i'd like to point out that if all you're going to do is come on here and go "KILKENNY? WHY WOULD ANYONE GO TO KILKENNY? IT IS TEH GHEY" - then it would be easier for all concerned if you removed your head from your anus.

Btw jaffer this isnt just directed at you but at alim and barry.

Now cop on and grow up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭Aliminator

thankfully, i guess, my isp d/c'd me before my last reply was sent. so i'm not going to tempt fate again.
come on, we're 'discussing' why no body wants to go to kilkenny. ffs loike. establishment is present for a reason, IT WORKS!

    *takes head out of arse*
    *grows up*

Anyway, sorry Neil. Usual crap, taking bad feelings out on scapegoats and sacrificial lambs ("And if I could obtain one of these animals for you...") on the board, won't happen again.

Now, since none of you can agree, how about I just set the next location for a reunion.

San Francisco seems like a fair choice to me, it'll give you guys an excuse to get out of the country.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 2,094 ✭✭✭halenger

    San Francisco rocks!!!

I'll go back there as soon as I can. Love that city...

no, alex, i overrule you. new york city, i say! (heh. yeah. right.)

    but san francisco is lovely.

i find it amusing that you and i are just as far away as me and all of them. ah, america.

as to the topic close your eyes, and point to a spot on the map. and then have the reunion there. just make sure its not on a lake or something. cause then it might get tricky.

    Loch Ree all the way

Well logically, it should be in the centre of the country. Laois. My front garden. 2 am on Christmas Day. Hope to see you all there.

Incidentally, is anyone going to the Trinity Open Day next Wednesday? Perhaps a "mini-reunion" is called for.

Though I could get myself an all expenses paid trip, courtesy of the parents, the unfortunate downside of having to see my uncle while there, and probably staying with him, shoots that down.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 87 ✭✭stevanavich

pimping your families wealth again eh? not surprising. i too would enjoy seeing you again alex, though impracticality prevails once more. whats this about "centre of the country" tripe. almost all major travel routes go to or from dublin. and it would be overall cheaper for the majority if it was held in dublin. not that i dont mind y'all holding it there, just if you are - i wont be there

alex, san fran sounds great. i go to the east bay round every 2 months, visit la famille and the likes. was there in october, we should do that next time. who else lives there though? i know emily lives in oakland, but thats it. oh, this is sarah btw, you know the one.

OK everyone, i have a date for you

there will be a christmas reunion held on the 3rd of january in kilkenny!
the meeting point is the castle gardens, as near as possible to te castle itself. Everyone should try to be there at noon but we will wait there for a while at any rate.

Anyone with a query should give me a ring, if you dont have my mobile phone number then you can email me, again most people have that. if anyone needs more information and doesnt have either of those then just post a reply up here on this thread and ill try and answer any questions you may have.

Lisa, if you could check that out and make sure there are no problems, being my co-organiser for this one, id appreciate it.

Bye all, hope i see you there

    Oisín

I'm afraid it is extremely unlikely that you all will be graced with my presence in Kilkenny this January.I will keep this short so you can all have more time to cry uncontrolably.

Oh yeah, oisin, colie and conor say hi and hows the convent

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36 Nyopallo

Sarah, let me know next time you're coming in 'round here, and where to.

I belive the question that started this thread was "Whats the story with the Kilkenny reunion?" In the 19 replies posted, no one actually answered those questions, but they did manage to squeeze in a culchies v. dubliners debate and a Session 1 v. Session 2 debate, not to mention a discussion about communism, nuclear war, and whether or not we should have a reunion in San Francisco. So I ask again: What is the story about the Kilkenny reunion? Dates, times, who, what, where, when, why, how? Please reply (with ANSWERS) coz I don't know if I can come or not yet.
    Thanks, and happy christmas!
    Alison

I think everyone should really try to go. Take something outside of Dublin for once. Why should everyone have to go to Dublin? I would invite you all to Limerick, but it's not a very popular city at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 110 ✭✭the_only_Ali

I'll come, but how many other Dubliners are coming? I dont really want to go all by myself. Me and public transport DO NOT MIX. And I'll definetely be in San Francisco though, its just Irish public transport I can't figure out. Stupid, stupid Busaras and Dart, Ianrod Eireann...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 748 ✭✭✭Zounds

    for the public transport impaired:
there's a train leaving huestons station at 9:30am on saturday morning, it arrives around 11:20am and coming back there's a train at 3:30pm and 7:30pm,
Myself and a few other will be going down on the 9:30 train.

I enjoyed it very much. It was well worth going. For a while I thought the bus journey was the best part which was horribly depressing. But it got better. I had a good day today.

Hey Peter!!! Sorry, I really want to, but I'm going to America during S2, and that's the session I want to go to. I know!! I'm really p~@*ed off bout it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

Erm, that reunion WAS about a month ago, why is this thread still here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

because there is still some discussion going on in here so theres no point in locking it. oddly enough i dont delete or lock threads once people seem to be "done" with them.
